This week we are spoiled for choice on the golf front, with no less than four Tour events happening. There are two on the PGA Tour and one on the DP World Tour, plus a further hot contest coming from the LIV Golf circuit too.
With so much going on, I thought I’d do something different this week. So, I’ve opted for an each way, cross-Tour Lucky 15 across all four events. That means we’ll have singles, doubles, trebles and a fourfold accumulator all covered, and as there are plenty of places available, going each way makes perfect sense here.
I also advise keeping your stakes small this week, as the prices are big enough as they stand, so there’s no need to get stuck in too much. Let’s face it, if we land a couple of winners we will gain plenty of profit, so keep it responsible as always.
I’m recommending Ladbrokes as my bookie of choice this week, thanks to their fantastic bet £5, get £20 in free bets deal Don’t miss out on this great offer - it's perfect for making the most of your Lucky 15.
My first Lucky 15 selection comes on the DP World Tour, where we have the Jonsson Workwear Open over in South Africa. It takes place at Glendower Golf Club and I think I have the perfect player lined up.
That player is world number 100, Zander Lombard. He is a fantastic ball striker, and he tends to play very well in his home country too. I’ve had a look through his record and this course suits him perfectly, being a long course that suits good iron play – which is an area has improved in significantly over the last couple of seasons.
He is still a maiden on Tour, but has a handful of runner-up spots to his name, and this looks like it could be a great opportunity for him to break his duck. I think at 18/1 Zander Lombard needs to be in this week’s Lucky 15.
Next up, we have the prestigious Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, and this is a proper test of golf. Playing on this type of golf course requires a wide range of skills first and foremost, but you also need a player who has a good game mentally.
It’s super-easy to drop shots around here, and unless you can remain calm in a pressured situation, you are not going to do well at all. So for my selection, I have decided to focus on good iron play as the number one requirement, which brings Max Homa right into the mix at 18/1.
He has such a good rhythm to his game that I feel he will hit loads of greens in regulation this week. In turn, that will give him a solid chance of being up the leaderboard heading into the final round. I genuinely cannot see Max Homa being too far away at the finish here, he plays the right game and he has the perfect attitude to succeed as well. Max Homa ticks all of the right boxes for me this week.
I am really looking forward to the Puerto Rico Open this week. It takes place at the fantastic Grand Reserve golf course over 7506 yards. It’s a very long course, but don’t be fooled by that, there are plenty of birdie opportunities round here and it will be quite a low scoring event.
There is a fair few at the top of the leaderboard who have a real chance here this week, but the player I’m most interested in here is Brandon Wu. This is a player who really looks to be on the up and up, so I don’t feel it will be too long until he wins his first PGA Tour event.
Admittedly he will need to bounce back from a bad performance at the Cognizant last week, but I’m sure that won’t be a problem and I think he is really good value at 25/1. He has now made his way up to world number 118, and I think he is going to continue improving all season long. Hopefully, starting right here this week.
My final selection for this week’s Lucky 15 is Anibarn Lahiri who is most definitely going under the radar at 40/1. He is a fantastic ball striker and he is starting to find his game again judging by his performance over the last few weeks back on Tour.
His iron play in particular has come on in leaps and bounds, which is especially important for this iron-dominated event at the Hong Kong Golf Club. And Anibarn coming into this off the back of his tied sixth last week, he must be full of confidence. In his current form, I would say his price could easily be halved, so I’m more than happy to take a chance on him here and I don’t think he’s going to let us down.
