Last season was a fantastic one for my followers and I am looking to up the game again this time around. As the new season begins, my focus is on the Australian PGA Championship at the Royal Queensland Golf Club, where I have a three-man squad lined up for the opening event. Hopefully we can get started in good style this week.
The prices and place terms that I have used for this week’s golfing event come from 888 Sport, so why not make the most of them and take advantage of a bet £10, get £30 in free bets deal while you’re there.
The DPWT heads to the Royal Queensland Golf Club this week for the Australian PGA Championship and this course has a fantastic layout. The track is a par 71 over 7085 yards, with just three par 5s and I think we could see some really low scores this week.
The betting is very tight at the top and there are a handful of players who are way too short in the market for my tastes. Cameron Smith currently heads the betting at 4/1 and he is rightly the favourite, but taking that price doesn’t seem wise to me. I think there is definitely some better value on offer in the field and I have a three-man squad lined up ready for you, so let’s get the ball rolling.
At a massive 60/1, Calum Hill looks the best value bet for the Australian PGA Championship in my opinion. His game suits this course perfectly and his iron play has definitely improved, but the most impressive part for me is his short game. His chipping and putting has been excellent, which has enabled him to become highly competitive in these big events. For me, Calum Hill is the value bet of the week for this event.
My second selection is Ryo Hisatsune, who owes us nothing after winning for us last season at 100/1. He has been very consistent since that win and I find it hard to see him finishing too far away here either. He has been a tad ropey off the tee at times, but it’s fair to say that his iron play has been tremendous and is ultimately sets him up very nicely for this week's event. He has some very strong credentials and at 20/1 there is just about enough value for me to find him worthy of an EW bet here.
Adrian Meronk is the player who first came to mind for this event, but at 12/1 I find him a tad too short to go in with an EW bet. I can’t leave him out this week, as his game sets up really well for this track. Also, even whilst overcoming a huge disappointment when he missed out on a Ryder Cup spot, he went to win the Andalucia Masters just two weeks later. He is a long hitter who hits a very nicely controlled fade off the tee and there is no way I can let Meronk go unbacked this week.
If you are enjoying my content and would also like some selections for the Joburg Open, including a 250/1 shot who is my number one contender for this week, then you’ll need to sign up to my Discord Sports Community group chat. Along with my golf tips, you’ll also find updates as the action happens and plenty of great banter too.
