NFL Week 17 Betting Preview
We have reached the penultimate round of the weekly schedule in the NFL with every team in action as the race to the play-offs intensifies.
Week 17 kicks off with two great games on Christmas Day with the Washington Commanders playing host to NFC East rivals the Dallas Cowboys, while there is an NFC North encounter with the Detroit Lions travelling to face the Minnesota Vikings.
The Thursday night/Friday morning game sees the Seattle Seahawks entertain the Los Angeles Rams at Lumen Field in an intriguing NFC West encounter. Both teams have an 11-3 record and whoever wins will be in the hot seat to finish top of the division.

Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Commanders - Thursday 18:00 GMT
Both the Commanders and the Cowboys have been eliminated from play-off contention, but that does not mean that this game will not be a full blooded affair. Fans of both franchises despise each other and sometimes it spills out on to the pitch. The Commanders are the home side and they will be determined to reign victorious in the faces of the Cowboys. Washington, who have a record of 4-11, will again be without star quarterback Jayden Daniels as he has been stood down for the remainder of the campaign to ensure he is fully fit for next season. The Cowboys are 6-8-1 this season, but they are currently on a three-game losing streak thanks to losses against the Lions, Vikings and LA Chargers. They have conceded 30 or more points in all of those defeats, so if the Commanders can get their offence working, there is the possibility they could post some points. Unfortunately for the Commanders, I cannot see it being enough as they concede a lot of points themselves. This will be a high-scoring affair with the Cowboys coming out on top.

Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs - Friday 01:15 GMT
The Denver Broncos are genuine Super Bowl title contenders this season. They have a record of 12-3 and they are ranked number one in the AFC. They saw an 11-game winning streak come to an end in week 16 as they suffered a 34-20 loss at the hands of fellow contenders the Jacksonville Jaguars. Victory over the Kansas City Chiefs would show how dominant they have been this year with the Chiefs already eliminated from play-off contention. Bo Nix is quickly becoming a genuine QB in the NFL and although he will not be up against the injured Patrick Mahomes, he will be eager to prove to the rest of the league he could be a Super Bowl winner. I am backing the Broncos to bounce back from defeat and beat a Chiefs side that has lost four matches in succession.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cleveland Browns - Saturday 18:00 GMT
The Pittsburgh Steelers are 9-6 this season and look certain to secure a play-off position as they top the AFC North, but I am not convinced they are genuine title contenders, They are grinding out wins and they did well to hold off the Detroit Lions in week 16. I just think once the play-offs are here, they will be one and done and exit at the first hurdle. However, for now they are doing well and should be too strong for the Cleveland Browns without being at their best. The Browns cannot make the play-offs as they have only won three games all season. Their last victory was in week 12 when they beat the Las Vegas Raiders, but since then they have fallen to defeat against the San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans, Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills in succession. I don't think the Steelers will trouble anyone in the play-offs but they should claim a comfortable win over the Browns.

Chicago Bears @ San Francisco 49ers - Monday 01:20 GMT
The Bears have been consistent this season, they have a record of 11-4, but I believe they can improve a lot. Their defence has been nothing short of amazing and has got them home on a number of occasions. Their offence could be more slicker and daring. Caleb Williams will always come under scrutiny as the Bears QB, but he is growing into his role and once he gets into a real flow he could be a major player in the NFL. They are top of the NFC North and are ranked second overall in the NFC. However, I feel their recent run of good form - one defeat in eight matches - will not count for anything against the Niners. The Bears are good, but I feel the Niners are genuine Super Bowl contenders. They have an identical record of 11-4 and Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey are in sublime form. Purdy has thrown 17 touchdown passes this season with just six interceptions, while McCaffrey has nine rushing touchdowns and seven receiving touchdowns. The Bears will need to be on their game defensively to stop the Niners.
