Prestwich Heys got their first win of the season in an emphatic 4-1 home win over Winsford United.
Matt Barnes’ side have had a tough start to the campaign, but will look to use this result as a springboard for better things to come.
Niall Sultan and Jack Coop put the home side 2-0 up at half time, with Oscar Campbell and Anthony Hall’s injury time goal wrapping up the win. Josh Duckworth hit a consolation penalty for the visitors late on.
Not to be outdone by Prestwich, Ashton Athletic also picked up their first points of the season with a 2-1 away victory at early leaders Congleton Town.
Chris Bandell put Athletic in front on the stroke of half time, but former Port Vale striker Tom Pope levelled for the home side midway through the second half.
Ashton weren’t to be denied however, with Josh Nicholson netting the winner with 13 minutes left on the clock.
Athletic maintained their lead to surprise in-form Congleton and move off the bottom of the table.
Wythenshawe Town went back to the top of the table with a 3-2 victory over Lower Breck.
James Kinsey’s side left it late, but Deane Smalley’s 89th minute winner ensured their impressive start at this level continues.
There was also victory for Avro, who beat early front runners 3-2 at the Vestacare Stadium. Goals from Bailey Sloane, Dan Byrnes and Oumar Camara ensured the points stayed in Oldham.
Elsewhere, Irlam took a point in a 2-2 home draw with Runcorn Town.
Leighton Mills’ Daisy Hill team inflicted a devastating 8-1 defeat on St Helens Town.
Matthew Davison netted a hattrick, with Hensley Mills scoring twice, and Bruno de Almeida Severino, Jake O’Brien and Jordyn Fitton all helped themselves to a goal each.
Amazingly this isn’t St Helens’ worst defeat of the season so far - they lost 10-0 to Cleator Moor Celtic three weeks ago.
Elsewhere Atherton Laburnum Rovers rescued a point against Campion with five minutes to spare. Connor Ikin pulled his team level after Marcus Day gave Campion the lead in the first half.
Both New Mills and West Didsbury & Chorlton remain unbeaten in D1 South, and unsurprisingly lead the way at this stage.
Benito Lowe capped his 50th appearance for New Mills with two goals in a 4-0 victory over St Martins. Richard Tindall and Teddy Osipitan had opened the scoring.
Chris Rowley’s West side meanwhile left it late, but dispatched of FC Isle of Man 3-0 despite the game being goalless til midway through the second half.
Sam Heathcote’s penalty, and late goals from Aarron Grewal and Rhain Davis wrapped up the points.
Goals from Adam Jones, Ryan Hibbert and Joseph Collins gave Cheadle Town a 3-0 win at Alsager Town.
Cheadle Heath Nomads also picked up three points in a 4-2 home victory over Rocester.
