Despite conceding a late equaliser, Wythenshawe Town are in second place in the Premier Division after a 2-2 draw with Burscough.
They looked set for a home victory, with two first half goals from Harvey Whyte and Greg Wilkinson giving the side the advantage. Lewis Sinnott had pulled the visitors level.
As the clock ticked down to the final whistle, there was heartbreak for James Kinsey’s side when Chris Lomax levelled the game for Burscough on 89 minutes.
With fellow early front runners Macclesfield and Congleton Town also drawing today, it’s a missed opportunity to reestablish themselves at the top.
It’s seven points from nine now for Ashton Athletic who held league leaders Macclesfield to a 1-1 draw at Brocstedes Park.
Kielen Adams had put the visitors ahead and on course for another victory midway through the second half.
Ethan Beckford hadn’t read the script however and drew Athletic level with eight minutes on the clock.
It’s a big turnaround for the Wigan-based side who had fallen to five defeats in a row at the season’s start.

Andy Welsh’s Bury AFC side won by the odd goal in a seven goal thriller against Steeton FC.

They may be going under the radar somewhat, but this is turning into a promising campaign for Abbey Hey.
They beat Alsager Town 2-0 at home to move into third place in the league.
Goals from Ben Halfacre and Joe Elliott wrapped up another three points.
Hey have won six straight games and have consistently improved their position each week.

Debut goals from Henry Bongwanga, Leandro Tanswell Vargas and Jayden Major, as well as one from captain Paul Turnbull saw the away side pick up a 4-2 win.
Pat Davin’s penalty halved the deficit for the hosts. Ryan Usher’s goal six minutes from time may have shredded some nerves in the opposite dugout, but Major popped up five minutes into injury time to cap a memorable day for his side.
