Big Brother is back on our screens, and the 22nd series has delivered plenty of controversy over the last three weeks. Following the headline-grabbing removal of George Gilbert last week, Big Brother has not taken its foot off the pedal, with the ‘codename scandal’ dominating this week’s action and setting up an exciting fake-eviction twist.
In this guide to the latest Big Brother betting odds, we look at how the betting markets are shaking up after another explosive week, and offer our take on who we think is worth backing.
Jenny Baird, Cameron Kinch, Nancy Nocerino, Zelah Glasson, Sam Ashby, Teja Dalphy, Caroline Monk, Marcus John, Elsa Rae, Feyisola Akintoye, Richard Storry, and Tate Reynolds
Emily Hewertson (Evicted Week 1), Gani Khan (Evicted Week 1), Cameron Barnes (Evicted Week 2) and George Gilbert (Removed Day 11)
With several weeks still to go in this year’s competition, the betting markets remain in a state of flux. However, two housemates have solidified their position as early favourites.
Zelah and Jenny have swapped positions as favourites throughout the week, with Zelah now narrowly edging it at 7/4 with Betfred, with Jenny at 5/2. This follows another week of drama in the house, with Nancy and Sam now both facing a fake public vote after the ‘codename scandal’, which saw them break housemate rules.
One of the two will be voted out of the house, but instead of leaving, they will enter a secret room where they can watch the other housemates, similar to the one Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne used in Celebrity Big Brother. These kinds of tasks can, for better or worse, shine a spotlight on the chosen housemate, and it could impact their odds significantly.
Backing a favourite this early in the season is risky. While Zelah and Jenny have both emerged as frontrunners, there are still plenty of twists and turns to come, with an early frontrunner often struggling to sustain their popularity over the show’s run.
Zelah, though, does show plenty of promise, with viewers warming to his authentic approach and honesty and he would be the one we would be the most comfortable backing.
Jenny is the riskier of the two. The makeup artist promised to ‘bring the craic’ to the house, and while she has certainly delivered, her direct approach could put her in the line of fire with her fellow housemates as the show continues.
Cameron was the early favourite with bookmakers, but he has drifted out to 11/2, an example of how quickly the odds can change early in the show. Richard has crept up the odds a little in the last week, currently sitting at 5/1. While we are not confident in backing him now, he could be one to keep an eye on over the next seven days to see if his odds drift in anymore.
Big Brother airs on ITV2 and ITV X six nights a week from Sunday to Friday. The show is broadcast from 9 pm Monday-Friday and 10 pm on Sundays. It is hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best,
This series began on September 28th. It will run for 48 days, making it the longest series since ITV took over the show.
