It has been over four years since we said goodbye to Daniel Craig as James Bond at the end of No Time to Die, and we are still none the wiser as to who will be our next 007. The Bond franchise itself has undergone some significant changes in that time, with Amazon buying creative control of the franchise in February this year.
As such, Bond is likely to undergo one of the biggest face-lifts in its history, and much of its success will rest on the next actor cast in the role. In this next James Bond betting guide, we take a look at the actors the bookies fancy to take on the role, and offer our picks and betting odds at our casino online partners.
Let’s see how Betfred are pricing up the next potential James Bond actors.
The next James Bond odds market has been one of the longest ongoing markets in the novelty betting category at Betfred, so can bet on the next James Bond. Despite no official announcement of a timeline, a handful of frontrunners have dominated the market for a long time.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been at the top of the pile for around two years now. Despite being regularly asked about the role, the 35-year-old has done his utmost to avoid the topic in interviews and has given very little away. He would certainly fit the role in terms of age, looks, and charisma, and is available at 7/4 with Betfred.
Callum Turner has come in significantly in recent weeks. The Queen and Country star’s odds have shortened from 4/1 to 7/4, and he is now joint favourite with Taylor-Johnson. Bond actors have historically not been household names before their casting, which gives Turner an edge over his rivals.
Henry Cavill’s name has never been far from the James Bond conversation. The former Superman star is an established box-office draw, and certainly looks the part, but that mainstream presence does go against traditional Bond casting trends. However, with Amazon taking creative control, it is unclear whether the old rules still apply. He is available at 11/2.
The Gentleman star Theo James is another name that has remained around the top four or five of the betting odds over the last 12 months. 2024 was arguably his breakout year, and he fits the mould in many ways. He is at 7/1 with Betfred, and we think there could be some value in backing him.
When Amazon took over creative control of Bond, rumours swirled that they wanted to go against type and cast a younger, established star in the role. Tom Holland, Jacob Elordi, and Harris Dickinson were all immediately linked. It is difficult to know how Bond traditionalists would react to any of these stars, though Dickinson is perhaps the best suited. He is currently at 12/1, while Holland and Elordi are at 16/1.
Austin Butler’s odds have shortened from around 33/1 to 10/1 in recent months, but this is likely due to his association with confirmed Bond 26 director Denis Viullenueve. Butler himself has stated he believes an American shouldn’t take the role, so we recommend swerving him.
While there is no official release date for Bond 26, Amazon has stated that it would like the film released by the end of 2027.
Dune director Denis Villeneuve has been confirmed as director, but there have been no further announcements about the cast, filming locations, or dates.
