Pool 2021 – The Sport You Never Knew You Wanted to Watch

You can’t play it at the pub, but you can watch it on the telly - there are 6 major pool tournaments taking place between now and the end of 2021 for you to check out.

2021 is shaping up to be the greatest ever year for pool, with disruptions last year because of this bloody pandemic, but now it’s coming back and it’s never been better.

If you haven’t watched pool on TV before, we recommend checking it out. We aren’t sure when you are going to be able to pick up a cue again (unless you’ve got a table in the garage), but you can watch some professional pool players instead. They’ll show you how it’s done.

The Mosconi Cup is the big one – that’s not until December, but if you start watching pool now, we know you’re going to be excited when it comes around. Europe’s elite takes on the USA's best in this one. It’s kind of like the Ryder Cup but it’s pool, not golf.

What’s on?

Before the Mosconi Cup, though, there’s a few other competitions you need to be watching. The first one that is coming to our screens is a brand-new competition – Champions League Pool from 22 – 29 March.

Confirmed by Matchroom (the company behind the whole pool scene), Champions League Pool will be hosted by Milton Keynes in the Marshall Arena, behind-closed-doors at the end of March.

Now, you’ll watch that and it sounds like it can be a great new tournament. Lucky for you, the next couple of tournaments quickly follow the new tournament. There will be the World Pool Masters, taking place between 6 – 9 April in Gibraltar, but in your home, too.

In the week following, the World Pool Championships will be relaunched, taking place over 5 days between April 12 and April 16. The UK have been confirmed to host the WPC, and the full details will be confirmed soon. There may even be a chance for fans to go watch this one, depending on restrictions etc., but it would be nice.

The talk of the summer in the pool world will be the World Cup of Pool, with 32 teams representing 31 nations battling it out for the prestigious trophy. Currently, China and the Philippines have won it the most, with 3 World Cup’s to their name – who knew that?

Then, as the seasons change again, we’ll be able to watch the 44th annual US Open Pool Championship in the autumn.

Following that, as we said, is the Mosconi Cup, and we for one hope that Europe can retain their crown after being victorious in the last one in 2019.

So, stick it on the telly, sit back and enjoy some of the best pool you’ll ever witness – much better than that one time your mate hit a lucky shot.
