Premier League preview and betting odds - matchday 12

Publish Date: 17/11/2021

The international break is finally over, and it was a good ‘un all round for the home nations. England qualified for the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar with thumping wins against Albania and San Marino.

Premier League

Scotland secured seeded status and a home playoff semi-final with impressive wins against Moldova and Denmark. Wales have also secured a playoff place and Northern Ireland, while they didn’t qualify, went out on a high with a 0-0 draw against European Champions Italy in Belfast.

But enough about that, the Premier League is back!

Let’s face it, no one really properly looks forward to or enjoys the international break, aside from the Tartan Army for the last year or so.

This weekend the real football is back, and there’s a full card of Premier League action for us to take a look at.

Below you can find some previews for the key Premier League games this weekend, alongside some betting tip and odds, courtesy of our friends at Betfred.

Leicester City vs Chelsea

The Premier League returns in style with a stonker of a 12:30pm lunchtime kickoff this Saturday, as Brendan’s faltering Foxes host Tommy’s blistering Blues at the King Power Stadium.

After two impressive seasons under Brendan Rogers, which have bagged them two consecutive fifth-place finishes and an FA Cup, it hasn’t been the best start to the 2021/22 campaign for Leicester.

The Foxes currently hold 12th place in the Premier League table and went on a four-game winless run ahead of the international break.

There’s still plenty of time for Leicester City to turn their season around, however, they have possibly the worst possible opponents to return to domestic action against in the form of European Champions Chelsea.

Tuchel’s well-drilled Chelsea side are sitting three points clear at the top of the table, however, they did drop points before the international break in their 1-1 draw at home against Burnley.

Leicester can take some positives from their record against Chelsea this calendar year, as the two sides have met three times in 2021, with Leicester winning two of those.

The bolder punter might then fancy the upset of a home win at odds of 18/5 or a draw at 5/2. Chelsea are still firm favourites with the bookies though at 8/11.

Liverpool vs Arsenal

The 5:30pm tea-time kickoff delivers another Premier League beltor as Liverpool host Arsenal at Anfield!

The Reds fell victim to their first defeat of the season before the international break, as they were beaten 3-2 by David Moyes’ storming West Ham side.

The Anfield record is on Jurgen Klopp’s side though, as they have managed to make their home a fortress once again this season.

However, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are in the midst of a purple patch that very few saw coming after the Gunners lost their opening three Premier League matches. Since then, Arsenal have gone on a ten-game unbeaten run and could nip ahead of Liverpool and go into fourth place with a win at Anfield on Saturday.

This is Arteta and Arsenal’s toughest test of the season yet (nope, we’re not counting the North London Derby in September as a serious test - sorry Spurs fans!), but given recent form, odds of 5/1 for an away win or a 7/2 draw don’t look too bad!

The home side are still solid favourites to grab the victory though, at odds of 4/9 with Betfred.

Premier League - Super Sunday betting odds

Sunday November 21st brings as another two heavyweight Premier League clashes. Manchester City host Everton in the 2pm kickoff, which is followed by Tottenham vs Leeds United at 4:30pm.

Everton have stumbled recently and face a tough test away to a Manchester City side who are now just three points adrift of league leaders Chelsea. City are unsurprisingly 1/7 favourites for this match, with the Toffeees being 14/1 underdogs.

It’s just the second game in charge of Spurs for Antonio Conte, but his side go into their game against Bielsa’s struggling Leeds United at odds of 8/11.
