Racing fans, we’re heading rapidly towards Oaks and Derby weekend and I’m currently working on a full preview for these two Classics. I’m sure I’ve managed to find you the winners, so don't forget to check in again here tomorrow.
But before we get to those, I have put together some quickfire selections for Thursday’s racing action that you might want to take a look at. I have two picks for the Flat at Lingfield and then we’ll head over the sticks at Market Rasen for some evening entertainment.
Before we get to the weekend, you might want to take advantage of some of the superb offers here on Betting.co.uk, but for now, let’s take a look at my personal favourite. Today’s offer comes from industry stalwart William Hill, who have a juicy Bet £10, Get £30 in Free Bets offer up for grabs.
This decent looking fillies Handicap is headed by the consistent Daphne May and she is likely to make a bold bid. However, I think there is one in here who has a slight class advantage over her rivals and that is the Ed Walker filly Star From Afarhh.
She has run some good races, despite pulling hard and evidently wasting energy mid-race, but still manages to win in decent enough fashion. She has been tried with various headgear in the past, but for Thursday, there has been a change of plan and they are leaving it all off.
In her case, the headgear clearly hasn’t worked and I think she will enjoy having more freedom and put her best foot forward. She is definitely talented, has a nice turn of foot and will love this fast ground, so she could well be on the premises here and at a nice EW price.
The final race at Lingfield on Thursday is the competitive Bet365 Handicap and there are plenty in with chances. The favourite, Cherry Cola, would only need a repeat effort of her win last time out to be competitive, but maybe the Sir Mark Prescott-trained At The Double can take her on.
I’m thinking he could be an interesting proposition first time out this year, having won three out of five Handicaps for connections last season. On his best form, he would surely have a great chance and now that he is a four-year-old, it’s quite possible he has improved again.
Perhaps the favourite is going to be bang there, but I think At The Double is the one with the potential to go even further and I’m siding with him.
To start us off at Market Rasen we have an interesting Handicap to look at. Although the Bourke runner, More To Follow, is likely to build on his last performance and will surely be at the top of the market, I think the one to side with is Lenebane.
This will be her second start of the season, she ran well in her first Handicap and is likely to improve again, which I think puts her bang in the mix. She is a nice traveller and will appreciate this faster ground. She ticks a lot of boxes and with three-time Champion jockey Brian Hughes taking the ride, she could have a big say at the business end.
Kihavah won really nicely on the Flat last week, showing a great turn of foot and you would have to fancy his chances coming here off the back of that. Brian Hughes also rides this one, and he is another who acts much better on the faster ground.
The 2m5f trip he ran over last time was probably a little bit out of his reach, but the drop back in distance here should suit him very nicely indeed. This is a decent race, but he’s a sound jumper and he will be tough to beat if he is in the same form again.
If you’re already signed up with William Hill, but still looking for some free bets, then check out what’s on offer here at Betting.co.uk. You can take your pick from over £250 worth of great offers.
I hope you all enjoyed my quickfire selections for Thursday, I think I've got a few winners for you all there. As mentioned, I’ll be back again tomorrow with an Oaks and Derby preview and hopefully our run of winners continues through the weekend. In the meantime, head over to my social media channels for even more racing news and tips!
