In today’s article, I review the tips I have posted on Betting.co.uk and analyse the results. September has been quite a slow month and interestingly, the results are swayed by whether or not BOG is included. The end of September marked seven months of me being the resident horse racing expert here, so I’ll also reveal the overall figures in this article for you. Suffice to say that if you have followed the betting tips I’ve posted here, you will have enjoyed a very healthy profit!
If you are new here, I’m RacingGav and I’m the resident Betting.co.uk horse racing expert. I produce five articles per week which are mainly betting tips, either daily or antepost. However, I also produce other types of content such as educational guides and big race trends. And if you are a fan of antepost betting, be sure to check out my articles that are already live for the Cesarewitch Handicap this month, the King George VI Chase in December, the 2026 Cheltenham Festival and the 2026 Aintree Grand National.
For those that like to bet on horses that are less popular in the market, but have bigger prices, there is a good chance the Tote will pay out better than the bookmakers. It’s also worth remembering the Tote Guarantee. This is where they guarantee to match the SP of the winning horse, or pay a dividend, whichever is greater. This makes betting with the Tote very appealing for punters that like to bet near the race time.
One key area where the Tote tends to offer better returns than traditional bookmakers is Forecast and Tricast betting. As a general rule, Exacta and Trifecta Tote payouts tend to be higher than bookmaker payouts, although that’s not guaranteed, of course..
As you can see, there is a time and a place to use the Tote. While I wouldn’t exclusively bet there, it’s certainly a weapon you should have in your arsenal. Especially when they have such a fantastic sign up offer in place! If you deposit and bet £10, you’ll get £40 of free bets, giving you a twofold advantage.
When you are deciding on a tipster to follow, you’ll obviously want to know if their tips are worthwhile. Well, I can confirm that my tips for Betting.co.uk, which are all free to access, have done exceptionally well over the seven months since I started here. In the remaining sections of today’s article, I’ll go through the full numbers with you, covering September in isolation, and then the overall figures.
As a punter and especially as a tipster, I am happy to see any of my selections come home in front. However, it is all the more sweeter when it’s for a big race, or a horse at a big price, and if it’s both, beautiful!
My Betting.co.uk readers enjoyed a winner in September that ticked both boxes, when Big Mojo won the Group 1 Sprint Cup Stakes at an amazing price of 12/1, with a SP of 16/1 for those with BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed). A Group 1 winner on a Saturday, who was priced at 16/1 when they went off! It truly doesn’t get much sweeter than that…
Big Mojo wasn’t the only big race winner we enjoyed though, we also watched Sweet William win the Doncaster Cup Stakes in style. After backing him at 2/1, he went off at 10/11 on the day.
September was a funny month where breaking even depended on whether you had BOG applied for your bets. To put that into context, it was the difference between Big Mojo winning at 12/1 or 16/1, and the bet returning 8.2pts or 10.6pts!
For the six months from March to August inclusive, the only losing month was April and that was only a 4.25pt loss. I say only, as it is dwarfed in comparison to August, which was our most profitable month at +28.637pts. However, for those without BOG, we must consider September to be another losing month, albeit with a very small loss of -1.55pts. For those with BOG, you would have seen a profit in September to the tune of +0.85pts.
As always, you cannot win all of the time, and you would be naive to think you’ll win every single month. The key takeaway here is understanding that success equates to making a long term profit, and we are certainly achieving that, so I won’t lose any sleep over one month where we were -1.55pts down. It’s all about winning the whole war rather than a single battle!
I’ve mentioned many times that betting is not a get rich quick scheme, and should never be treated like one. If you go into it with that attitude, staking too much on each bet, or gambling on ambitious multiples that are realistically never going to come in, sooner or later you will come unstuck. Of course, you may land the odd multiple, but there is also the odd winner of the lottery, it doesn’t mean it’s a good method! Slow and steady is always the best approach.
I started as the resident horse racing tipster here in March 2025, so you now have seven months worth of data to judge my performance on. The numbers speak for themselves, as we are currently sitting on a profit of 47.982pts, which is an exceptionally strong return on investment at 34.64%. For those fortunate enough to have BOG, you would have a profit of 55.892pts with a huge ROI of 40.36%.
For those not familiar with ROI, it refers to the return you get for money staked, expressed as a percentage. For context, a ROI of 40.36% means that every £100 staked on my betting tips would have returned £140.36. So, if you had bet £10 per point on all of my selections over the last seven months, you would be sitting on a profit of £403.60.
Here is my results breakdown for September only:
| Excluding Best Odds Guaranteed | Including Best Odds Guaranteed | |
| Staked | 18.5pts | 16pts |
| Returned | 16.95pts | 19.35pts |
| Profit/Loss | -1.55pts | +0.85pts |
| ROI | -8.38% | +4.59% |
And here is the full breakdown covering March to September:
| Excluding Best Odds Guaranteed | Including Best Odds Guaranteed | |
| Staked | 138.5pts | 138.5pts |
| Returned | 186.482pts | 194.392pts |
| Profit/Loss | +47.982pts | +55.892pts |
| ROI | +34.64% | +40.36% |
While I’d love for every month to be a profitable one, I’ll say again that I’d rather win the war than individual battles. As you can see from the second table, which covers my overall results for the seven months up to the end of September 2025, we are enjoying a healthy profit and ROI.
There are other factors I look at too. One of which is the value of my selections i.e. were they going off at a shorter price than I advised them at. Well, I can confirm that 79% of all the horses who went to post went off at a shorter price. Some of them even went off at half of the price they were originally tipped at, representing exceptional value. Ironically, our big priced winner, Big Mojo, was actually one of the handful that went off at a bigger price. I tipped him at 12/1 and he went off at 16/1.
We also encountered some bad luck during the month. My antepost tip for the St Leger, Big Griff, had shortened significantly in the market, but unfortunately suffered a setback and missed the race. We then had the weather go against horses like White Birch in the Irish Champion Stakes, and Purosangue at Doncaster. That’s before taking account of bad luck in-running as with Dandy’s Angel at Beverley. But, we go again in October, where hopefully we can make it six out of eight profitable months.
Below you will see some of the fantastic free bet offers currently available from our recommended bookmakers. Make sure to check them out, there’s plenty of value to be had from these deals!
While I typically produce five articles each week for Betting.co.uk with free access to my betting tips, the majority of my selections are reserved exclusively for my Discord members.
The Discord has seen an overall profit since I launched it in January 2024, and it has been particularly profitable over the last few months. From April 2025 to date, the Discord members have enjoyed a profit of +80.868pts to advised prices and place terms. If you were to use the best prices and place terms (I don’t quote stand out terms), the profit for this period increases to +132.285pts. Results should be judged both short term and long term, especially the latter, but fortunately, both are looking great!
You can join my Discord server right away on a seven day free trial and receive immediate access to all of my racing content, but if you have any queries before you sign up, my DMs are open over on X @RacingGav.
I'm confident that I’ll provide you with profitable tips - so much so that I offer a 30-day money-back guarantee if I don’t!
