Super League returns this week after the Challenge Cup quarter-final round with seven mouth-watering fixtures taking place from Thursday through to Sunday.
It has been a couple of tough weeks for Hull coach John Cartwright after he was informed that his services will not be required after this season ends. There is still speculation that he might not see out the 2026 campaign. He needs to put that to the back of his mind and prepare his team for the visit of St Helens.
The Saints have had plenty of injury problems this year, but they are still performing well on the field. They are fifth on the ladder, but technically joint top as they have the same amount of points as the four teams above them.
Three games take place on Friday evening with champions Hull KR travelling to France to take on Toulouse, while Huddersfield Giants host Yorkshire rivals Leeds Rhinos with York Knights also at home against Leigh Leopards.
There is another Yorkshire derby on Saturday afternoon with Wakefield Trinity looking to bounce back after being dumped out of the Challenge Cup. They take on Bradford Bulls at the DIY Kitchens Stadium. The second game sees Catalans Dragons - who have just parted company with coach Joel Tomkins - welcome Warrington Wolves to the South of France.
Round 8 of Super League comes to a close on Sunday with Wigan Warriors taking on bottom club Castleford Tigers. The last time Wigan played at home, they went up against Huddersfield - who were bottom - and lost. Can lightning strike twice at the Brick Community Stadium?
On this page, our rugby league expert and published author David Kuzio will attempt to pick out seven winners in his Super League acca, as well as previewing some of the big games of the weekend. See if you agree with him.
I feel quite confident about getting a full house of Super League wins. I am close each week, but this season has thrown up a lot of surprise results already. Hopefully, they all go my way in round 8.
Hull are a funny team to predict. I backed against them one week and they won, which led their social media to call me a clown. Well, I am backing against them again and if they manage to beat St Helens then I will happily be called a clown again.
I just cannot see Saints losing - it pains me to write that. They are going through the motions quite well, considering their well documented injury list, but they are getting results, so I am going for an away win.
The three games on Friday are interesting encounters. Toulouse have started well in Super League, but Hull KR are finally hitting some form. I cannot see anything but a comfortable win for the champions.
Huddersfield Giants have won their last two matches since sacking coach Luke Robinson, but I think their mini revival will come to an end on Friday. They take on a Leeds Rhinos side who are level with four other clubs at the top of the ladder with only points difference separating themselves and leaders Warrington. I am backing Leeds to take the points in this one.
The final game on Friday is quite difficult to call. York take on Leigh with both teams with an identical record of two wins and five losses. York are at home and that could be an advantage, but Leigh showed plenty of heart in their Challenge Cup loss at Warrington - seven days after being hammered there in the league. I have to go with Leigh in this one.
Saturday, I have to back Wakefield at home over Bradford. Trinity have some quality players, although they will be without the suspended Jazz Tevaga after he was banned for two separate incidents last weekend. Catalans might have parted company with their coach, but Warrington are in good form at the moment. It will be tough, but I think Warrington are too good for most teams at the moment.
Super League round 8 ends with Wigan hosting Castleford. The Warriors have lost their last two league matches, but they got back to winning ways with a 26-22 win over Wakefield in the Challenge Cup last Sunday. I have to go home win, because the Tigers are so unpredictable. This will either be a heavy win for Wigan, or Cas will claim the victory. I'll stick with Wigan.

have boosted odds of 6/1 on this weeks acca.

This is a strange one for Hull and John Cartwright. It will be the first home game since it was announced that Cartwright would be leaving his position as head coach at the end of the season. He has since come out and said he is not happy with the way it happened, and it will be interesting to see if he gets the fans support or not. His job is to put out the best team to try and beat St Helens. He has managed to bring in England international Harry Newman on a one week loan from Leeds Rhinos to help bolster his thin squad. The Black and Whites will be without Jake Arthur, Joe Batchelor, John Asiata, Arthur Romano and Ryan Westerman. They will be massive losses for Hull, and add them to Will Pryce, Harvey Barron, Herman Ese'ese, Jed Cartwright, Joe Phillips and Joe Ward who are already out, they are down to the bare bones. St Helens welcome back Matty Lees after missing the whole season so far, but Jake Wingfield and Lewis Murphy joined their injury list. Youngsters Alfie Sinclair and Billy Keeley have been named ion the squad and will make their first team debuts if selected. A lot has been made about St Helens' injuries, but Hull are missing some key players and I cannot see them troubling the Saints. I am backing Saints to win by 1-12 points, while I am tipping Kyle Feldt, Daryl Clark and Deon Cross all to score tries for the visitors.

I made my predictions for this weekend before the squads were announced, and this was the match I was on the fence with. I have seen the squads and I am doubted my prediction in their match, but I will stick by guns and still back Leigh for the win. The Leopards will be without David Armstrong, Keanan Brand, Tesi Niu and Umyla Hanley meaning they are missing their first choice 1-4. Adam Cook and Lachlan Lam are in the halves, and I have a feeling this is the game that these two click together. It has been frustrating watching them both try and do their own thing, they need to link up more and get the Leopards moving. York are happy to bring back David Nofoaluma, Cody Hunter and Ben Littlewood after they were cup-tied, while Jon Bennison and Kieran Hudson are available after injury. This is going to be a tough game for both sides. I need to stick with my first decision and back Leigh to edge this one. I expect it to be close and I am backing Leigh by 1-12 points with Ipape and Lam both scoring. I will back Nofoaluma to cross for the Knights.

Warrington Wolves are top of the Super League ladder on points difference, and they will be looking to register their sixth win of the season when they travel to the South of France to take on coach-less Catalans Dragons. Joel Tomkins left his role as Dragons head coach earlier this week with Michael McIlorum, Mitchell Pearce and Ryan Sheridan taking over team matters. They have gone with the same 21-man squad they named that lost to St Helens in the Challenge Cup last Friday. Warrington coach Sam Burgess has made a couple of chances to his squad with some key personnel carrying minor knocks. Cai Taylor-Wray - who returned from a hamstring injury last weekend - has a small fracture in his hand and with the Wolves playing Wigan Warriors in round 9, Burgess feels he cannot be risked. Luke Yates and Josh Smith will also sit this one out, but Jake Thewlis and Max Wood have been recalled from their loan spells at Castleford Tigers and Oldham respectively. Catalans can be a force at home, but with everything that has gone on off the field recently, I cannot see them living with the Wolves. Marc Sneyd looks back to his best, while George Williams is always a handful. I am backing the Wolves to win by over 13 points with Williams, Matty Ashton and Toby King all crossing over for tries.

Wigan coach Matt Peet has a selection dilemma on Sunday with star player Harry Smith serving the first of his three match ban. Smith was suspended for touching an injured player on the ground, while Sam Walters was also handed a three-match ban for a headbutt. This is coupled with the fact that Jake Wardle and Bevan French are still injured. Peet has to decide if he moves Jai Field or Adam Keighran in the halves to partner Jack Farrimond. If Field moves to six, then Noah Hodkinson will move to full back. If he goes with Keighran, then that means the Warriors will not have any specialised centres with Liam Farrell already filling in for Wardle. The Tigers welcome back Semi Valemei and Jenson Windley, but Joe Westerman has dropped out. Loan players Tom Forber and Jake Thewlis have returned to their parent clubs Wigan and Warrington respectively. Wigan have not won in Super League since they beat York Knights on March 19, but they did end a two-game losing run with a victory over Wakefield Trinity in the Challenge Cup. Castleford have dropped to the bottom of the Super League ladder in recent weeks with just two wins all season. The last time Wigan played a team at the bottom of the table, it was against Huddersfield Giants and they lost. I cannot see them slipping up again. Wigan have won their last 14 meetings against Castleford, with Castleford last winning was a home success back in 2020. Cas have beaten the Warriors on their home soil since 2017 in the Super 8s. I am backing the Warriors to win comfortably by 13+ points. When it comes to try scorers, I am backing Zach Eckersley to continue his fine scoring record this season. The winger has scored eight in Super League and seven in the Challenge Cup, so I am backing him for an any time score and to get two or more.

Betfred is the principal sponsor of Super League, so it makes sense that they are running a couple of special offers ahead of the opening weekend.
Below is the Betfred offers that will go hand in hand with the start of Super League. These will obviously change each week, but it is a good starting point when it comes to Super League betting sites.
This Betfred offer runs throughout the whole campaign and gives rugby league betting fans a great incentive to get involved. The Double Delight offer sees punters receive double the odds when their selected player scores the opening try of the game and then goes on to score another later in the game.
St Helens travel to take on Hull on Thursday evening, and a lot of the bookies see an away win on the cards. Kyle Feldt knows his way to the try line and thanks to Betfred's price boost, you can get odds of 7/4 on Feldt scoring a try and Saints winning the game.
St Helens to win & Kyle Feldt to score a try - 7/4 @ Betfred ✔️
Betfred has selected four teams all to win this weekend with their special Super League Price Boost. You can get odds of 21/10 on St Helens, Hull KR, Leeds Rhinos and Leigh Leopards all to win. I have selected the same four teams in my big Super League acca, so hopefully we are both right, although I am concerned about the outcome of the Leigh game.
St Helens, Hull KR, Leeds Rhinos & Leigh Leopards all to win - 21/10 ✅
Wigan Warriors won back-to-back Grand Finals in 2023 and 2024, before losing their title in last season's Grand Final to Hull Kingston Rovers. The Warriors have not boosted their squad as much as others, but the return of Oliver Partington from Catalans Dragons has added some grunt in the pack. Betfred are backing Wigan to return to Old Trafford for the fourth successive year and regain their Super League title. Do you agree?
Wigan Warriors to win the 2026 Grand Final - 7/4 @ Betfred
Sky Sports is the main broadcaster for Super League and they promise to show every single game live each week. They will broadcast a main game on their TV channels, but if a game kicks off at the same time on the same day then it will be streamed on their Sky Sports + red button channel.
All seven games will be shown by Sky Sports in some capacity over the weekend. You can watch Super League on Sky Sports or Sky Sports + this weekend and stream it through the Sky Go app or with a NOW TV pass if you do not have a Sky subscription.
Bet365 will also be offering live streaming on Super League games this season. Which ever games are not being shown on the Sky Sports main channel, then they will be streamed live at Bet365. There will be no commentary on the matches, but you will see the live pictures.
