It’s that time of year again - the UK Sports Personality of the Year awards are almost upon us, and will be aired live on BBC this coming Sunday - December 19.

Tennis sensation Emma Raducanu is favourite to win the award.
Teenage tennis sensation Emma Raducanu is hot in the running for the awards, as is diver Tom Daly and boxer Tyson Fury.
Below, we’ve provided you with a full betting guide, running you through the favourites to win, as well as some of the other betting markets.
All of the odds contained in this piece have been provided by our good friends over at Betfred. If you want to find out more about the fantastic festive offers available at this bookie, then take a look at our Betfred review.
Unsurprisingly, the overwhelming favourite to win the top prize is 19-year-old tennis star Emma Raducanu.
Back in September, Emma Raducanu, then aged just 18, did the unthinkable by becoming the first singles qualifier ever to win a Grand Slam title when she won the US Open without even dropping a set.
Raducanu is currently 1/20 on to win the award and will become the youngest winner since Michael Owen in 1998 should she do so.
However, she will not be present to collect her award, as she tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of traveling to Abu Dhabi for an exhibition event.
The second favourite is Olympic diver Tom Daly, who can be backed at odds of 12/1. The next-nearest outlier is boxer Tyson Fury, who is priced at 25/1 with Betfred.
Emma Raducanu - 1/20
Tom Daly - 12/1
Tyson Fury - 25/1
Sarah Storey - 100/1
Adam Peaty - 100/1
Raheem Sterling - 100/1
With Emma Raducanu (quite rightly) being a nailed-on for the top prize, betting on a SPoTY 2021 outright winner is a non-starter.
With that in mind, let’s then take a look at some of the other betting markets that you can take a punt on to make the 2021 Sports Personality of the Year Awards a little bit more exciting.
With Raducanu being the odds-on favourite for the title, the most interesting betting market to look at is betting on the award as if she wasn’t in the running.
With Emma out of the equation, Tom Daly is the odds-on favourite with Betfred at 4/11.
Daly won an Olympic Gold medal at Tokyo 2020 in the Men’s Synchronised 10m Platform with his diving partner Matty Lee. He also won an individual bronze for the third Olympics running, meaning the 27-year-old has now amassed four Olympic medals so far in his career.
Behind Daly in the bookies’ predictions is a heavyweight boxer, Tyson Fury, at 7/2.
A somewhat controversial figure, Fury publically stated that he didn’t want to be included in the shortlist, and now claims that he has been “against his wishes”. Fury will not be involved in the SPoTY 2021 awards in any way, shape or form, and has even threatened legal action to challenge the fact that he was included in the six-person shortlist.
Regardless, Fury isn’t without his fans and will be the rebel’s choice in a shortlist that is otherwise quite squeaky clean.
Tom Daly - 4/11
Tyson Fury - 7/2
Adam Peaty - 8/1
Sarah Storey - 33/1
Raheem Sterling - 33/1

Fury is in the shortlist despite not wanting to be.
Probably the best place to find some decent potential value in SPoTY 2021 betting is in the top 3 finish odds.
Raducanu is again a write-off here at 1/500, but we like the look of British swimmer Adam Peaty to slip into the top 3 at 6/5.
Paralympian Sarah Storey and footballer Raheem Sterling are both outsiders at 6/1. But given the fact that Tyson Fury still has some time to totally put voters off, the chances of either of them sneaking into the top 3 definitely isn’t beyond the realms of possibility.
Emma Raducanu - 1/500
Tom Daly - 1/7
Tyson Fury - 8/11
Adam Peaty - 6/5
Sarah Storey - 6/1
Raheem Sterling - 6/1
