Stockport Town will have to do it all over again after fielding an ineligible player in their 4-2 victory at Cheadle Town earlier this month.
Matt Jansen’s side won the North West Counties Division One South fixture on September 3, but the clubs have now been told to replay the game by the League Management Committee.
The game has been rearranged for Wednesday 22 September.
Goals from captain Paul Turnbull and debutants Henry Bongwanga, Leandro Tanswell Vargas and Jayden Major gave Stockport what looked to be a promising away victory. Ryan Usher and Pat Davin were on the scoresheet for the home side.
The replay leaves Stockport with an unenviable Saturday-Wednesday-Saturday schedule over the coming week. The team play both FC Isle of Man and Abbey Hulton United at home on consecutive Saturdays.
As a result of the original game being chalked off, the Woodley-based side have seven points so far this season and are sitting outside the relegation places on goal difference.
Overall, Cheadle have fared better so far and have fifteen points and are just outside the playoffs in 8th place.
Stockport Town did not wish to comment when approached.
