The ‘Greatest Show On Turf’ arrives in New Orleans on Sunday, February 9 with back-to-back Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesars Superdome.
The Chiefs have gone from the team other fans rooted for in the big games to the team they want to lose every week. Patrick Mahomes is still popular with the Chiefs Nation, but fans believe he gets the rub of the green with match officials.
Whether that is true or not will never be proven, but a lot of people will be rooting for the Eagles just to see Kansas City’s recent dominance come to an end.
This game should be an absolute cracker. Mahomes has the ability to throw his team to victory with seconds left on the clock, while Eagles running back Saquon Barkley can run all day without getting tired. These match ups will be interesting to watch.

Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles have clashed in the Super Bowl once before with the Chiefs coming out on top.
These two contested the 2023 Super Bowl at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona with Mahomes winning the MVP award for best player as he threw three touchdown passes to three separate receivers in a 38-35 success.
The Chiefs have not been at their fluid best this season, but they seem to do enough. They will have to be at their best to beat the Eagles and somehow find a way to stop Barkley.
Can Mahomes Win A Third Consecutive Ring & MVP Award
Patrick Mahomes continues to have his legacy tarnished because of what people think are calls in his favour, but you cannot deny he is talented and will one day be in the NFL Hall of Fame.
He has guided the Chiefs to back-to-back Super Bowl wins and three in total, while he has won the MVP award three times altogether.
He won the MVP in his first Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers in 2020, while he has won the last two awards as he guided the Chiefs to wins over the Eagles and Niners in 2023 and 2024 respectively.
It is not an exaggeration to say that if Mahomes fails to perform, then the Chiefs will lose. He is the guy that gets everyone motivated. His team-mates will run through a brick wall for him because they know he can come up with a moment of magic with the game on the line.
If Mahomes plays well and throws a couple of TD passes, then he will win his third consecutive title and MVP award - Can the Eagles stop him?
Give The Ball To Barkley
The best chance Philadelphia Eagles have of winning Super Bowl LIX is to just hand the ball off to Saquon Barkley and let him do the rest.
He has shown all season how good he is with ball in hand, and more evidence was proven in the NFC Championship game against Washington Commanders when he raced over 60 yards for a rushing touchdown on Philly's first time with the ball.
He then went on to rush for a further two more touchdowns as the Eagles hammered the Commanders 55-23 to clinch the NFC Championship and reach their second Super Bowl in three seasons.
You might think it’s easy to stop Barkley if you know he is getting the ball. Well, that is easier said than done. Even with a slight calf strain, the former New York Giant had Washington chasing shadows for four quarters.
If Barkley can find the gaps and keep the ball in his possession, then the Chiefs will have a hard time stopping him.
Defences Need To Be On Their Game
Without sounding like Michael Owen and stating the obvious, both defences need to be on point and keep their penalties to a minimum in the Super Bowl.
We are well aware that Mahomes can strike from anywhere and has the likes of Travis Kelce and Isiah Pacheco as their main offence weapons, but if the Eagles defence can keep them in check and put pressure on Mahomes, then the Chiefs could get frustrated.
The Chiefs defence needs to be fully switched on because if they turn off for one second then Barkley will carve them up the middle like a turkey on Thanksgiving.
Any flags on the play that will move the Eagles downfield will fill Jalen Hurts with confidence and he might bypass Barkley and look for the likes of AJ Brown, Dallas Goedert and DeVonta Smith.

Eagles To End The Chiefs Dominance
Being a fan of the Washington Commanders, it is very difficult for me to cheer for the Philadelphia Eagles. However, they are the best team in the league for me and I am backing them to win their second Super Bowl.
I just feel that Barkley will be the difference, and I mean that even if he is not used as frequently as he was against Washington. The thought of the ball being handed off to Barkley will make the Chiefs defence nervous.
If that happens, then Hurts will be able to play his natural game at QB and throw to his receivers or even run with it himself.
The double threat of Barkley and Hurts will outway whatever Mahomes and company can do. I am backing the Eagles to win the Super Bowl by 1-6 points.
