Want to know who the best new men’s tennis players are going to be? Then you need to watch this year’s Next Generation ATP Finals.

This epic tennis contest runs from 8 to 12 November at the Allianz Cloud Arena in Milan, Italy and it shows off the best men’s singles players aged 21 and under. While there’s no Carlos Alcaraz this time around, it’s still shaping up to be an immense spectacle. Here’s what you can expect from the 2022 Next Gen ATP Finals.
Recent winners of the Next Generation ATP Finals have included the likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. While both Sinner and Alcaraz are eligible for this year’s tournament, they have opted to withdraw.
This means that all of the best tennis bookmakers are now backing Holger Rune to win the 2022 Next Gen ATP Finals. The Danish star is currently in 18th position in the ATP rankings and at just 19 years of age, he has already made a big splash on the international tennis scene.
Rune only turned fully professional in 2020 and since then he has managed to win five titles on the ATP Challenger tour and made his first ATP Tour final at this year’s Bavarian International Tennis Championships. This featured an incredible win over the world number three Alexander Zverev and it brought Rune into the ATP Top 50 rankings for the very first time.
From here, the Danish star has shown no signs of slowing down. His debut appearance at the French Open included a stunning win over fourth seed Tsitsipas, while he booked his second ATP Final appearance in Sofia. While Rune lost the match to Marc-Andrea Husler, it was enough to make sure that he qualified for this year’s Next Gen ATP Finals.
Recent results for Rune have included a third ATP Final appearance at the Stockholm Open and he has now cracked the top 20 ATP rankings. This means that Rune should be in devastating form in Milan this November
The hard, indoor court of the Allianz Cloud Arena is going to prove a trial by fire for many young tennis stars. It’s going to be fascinating to see how the rising Italian star, Lorenzo Musetti, performs in front of the home crowd.
He’s already reached a career-high of 23rd place on the ATP rankings this October after picking up two ATP Tour singles titles with wins at the Hamburg European Open and the Tennis Napoli Cup. In addition to this, Musetti reached the fourth round of the 2021 French Open and the third round of this year’s US Open.
Keep an eye on the British youngster, Jack Draper, who is also expected to perform well at this year’s Next Gen ATP Finals. The 20-year old has recently crept inside the top 50 ATP rankings and has picked up four titles on the ATP Challenger Tour. 2022 has already seen Draper beating the likes of Tsitsipas and he’ll be keen to build on his quarter-final appearance at the 202 Winston-Salem Open.
Other contenders to watch out for include the likes of the American star Brandon Nakashima, the Czech youngster Jiri Lehecka and the increasingly promising Taiwanese player Chun-hsin Tseng. However, most tennis fans will already be putting down their bets on Rune at the fastest cashout bookmakers as the Danish star will surely dominate this year’s Next Gen ATP Finals.
