Itās hard to believe that itās almost the fifth and final day of Royal Ascot 2023. Undeniably it has been a superb meeting so far, with some unbelievable action and some very unexpected results too.
Anyway, Iāve decided we should go out with a bang. So, for the final day of the Royal meeting I have lined up some very nice selections with some very nice value price tags attached. You can play them as singles, but I have combined them into a juicy EW Lucky 31.
As the Royal meeting comes to an end, I have decided to give you one of my favourite offers of all time and it comes from Betfred, who are offering a cracking Bet Ā£10, Get Ā£50 in Free Bets deal.
The Chesham is one of my favourite races at Ascot and this yearās favourite, Pearls And Rubies, is a stunner. She is a beautifully bred filly, who got up late to win first time out, leaving her with plenty to improve on and sheās unlikely to be too far away come the finish line. That being said, I shanāt be rushing to back her at a short price. Another interesting runner here is Matnookh. I think he is quite a nice colt and the firm ground will suit him just right. He might just have a squeak here and is worth a small EW play at his current price for sure.
However, the one Iām absolutely set on for this race is Golden Mind, who is half-brother to the awesome Perfect Power and I really liked his attitude last time out. He finished third on debut over 5 furlongs, then upped his game to win at Leicester on his first attempt at 6 furlongs. Iām really confident that he is going to improve yet again as he steps up to 7 furlongs here. The experience he gained in his first two starts can only bode well for him and I think he has a cracking chance at a double-figure price.
Highfield Princess lines up here for the second time this week, after being a little unlucky in the Kings Stand on Tuesday. For as much as Iād love to see her get redemption, there is one that stands out to me at the price and that is Al Suhail.
It most surely hasnāt been the best week for Godolphin, but I think they still have the chance to bag a Group 1 here with Al Suhail, who seems to be better than ever at the moment. He has been over in Meydan for a while and has been running spectacularly well on the fast ground there, winning twice over 7 furlongs and showing some serious speed.
Dropped back to 6 furlongs last time out, he got chinned on the line, but that was some rock-solid form and I completely fail to understand why he is priced so high in the market. I think he should be half the price he is and I have really high hopes of him running a big race.
My NAP selection for today comes in the 31-runner Wokingham Stakes, which is of course a risky play, but he ticks an awful lot of boxes in a competitive field, so Iām more than willing to take the chance.
You might think that in a field of 31 there are plenty of chances, but Probe is the standout for me. He is the horse that I have been waiting all week to see and he is genuinely my best Ascot bet for this entire week.
He came a very decent second to Orazio, who is the current favourite here, back in April and went on to beat Chairmanoftheboard by a good margin in May. He was fifth last time out at Epsom, in a very hot race, where he ran respectably and perhaps could have done better had different tactics been used.
To sum it up. He is a lot better off in the weights this time around and having Ryan Moore on board is a massive plus for his chances. To me there are no real ground concerns, he ticks more boxes than most in this race and I think Ascot will be much more to his liking anyway.
It must be said that Ziryab is a very typical type for me to latch onto. He is a Kingman colt out of a Galileo dam and he is only going one way. A small word of warning though, he is currently first reserve for this race, so there is a small possibility he wonāt run.
However, I canāt bring myself to leave him out of this and then see him romp home. He is a flashy colt that cost over half a million as a yearling and looks like the step up in trip is going to bring out even more in him.
Iāll keep it short and sweet here, as he may not even go at this point, but if he gets in, then he is one to take very seriously indeed. And if he doesnāt, then the worst-case scenario is that a single bet will become void, or your Lucky 31 will revert to a Lucky 15.
For the final race of the 2023 Royal Ascot meeting we have a marathon trip and itās no surprise to see Stratum at the head of the market, but I think this race is far better suited to the credentials of Falcon Eight, who is running for the Dermot Weld team.
What I see is this. He has mostly been campaigned on softer going for the best part of a year now and it simply doesnāt suit him. He was second in this race 12 months ago on faster ground and a repeat performance here could give him a great chance to get back into the winnerās enclosure.
Iām also aware that some think thereās a question mark about his ability to stay the trip in this company, but I have no idea why. As far as Iām concerned, he has a very decent jockey on board and the ground is spot on for him. If he doesnāt win this, then I think he will go seriously close.
Then weāve got one ready and waiting for you! Take a scroll through the great deals available right here on Betting.co.uk and youāre sure to find at least one that grabs your attention.
Thank you for joining me during this weekās epic Ascot journey. Thereās just one more day to go, but if you crave more racing news and views, then donāt hesitate to give me a shout on any of my social media channels.
