Welcome back for another week of golf betting tips. This week I am focusing solely on the DP World Tour event in South Africa, the SDC Championship. It’s a fantastic event held on a links-style golf course aptly named St. Francis Links.
Before we take a closer look at the course, I just wanted to let you know that I will be dropping an each way Lucky 15 for the four Majors, which will go live at some point next week, so stay tuned for the full preview and my best selections. Plenty of time to find some winners before the Majors though, so why not take advantage of some free bets while you’re waiting.
My bookie of choice this week is Ladbrokes, once again they are offering great prices and plenty of places for the DPWT. To make the pot even sweeter you can get a fantastic bet £5, get £20 in free bets offer if you are signing up as a new customer.
The SDC Championship takes place at St. Francis Links, a beautiful setting over 7192 yards and a very good test of golf. Last year’s winner was Matt Baldwin, who took the top prize with a tremendous score of 18 under par to win by 7 shots.
Anyone who can manage a score like that this week will surely find themselves on the winner’s podium, as it really was a fantastic display of golf. I would imagine this week’s winning score may reach 13 or 14 under, as the weather conditions are looking good on the forecast, but I’m sure there will be plenty of thrills and spills nonetheless.
My first selection is Jaco Prinsloo, and I think he has an outstanding chance here this week. He hasn’t yet won on the DPWT, but he is a superb all-round player, who evidently loves links golf based on his previous form. He has had loads of starts on the Challenge Tour and comes into this week off the back of two Top 10’s, both at courses that aren’t too dissimilar as far as approach goes.
Basically, you need to be steady off the tee, but comfortable controlling those half shots with the irons, and he has been very good in that department. In a field where the home players tend to do well, I can see Jaco making a big impact this week.
My second pick for the SDC is another South African player, Louis Albertse, who is a fantastic ball striker and ought to relish the conditions here. He's another who hasn’t won on the main Tour, but he has plenty of class and certainly has the ability to win an event like this.
He is one of the more consistent players on the Challenge Tour and he will go under the radar here as the world number 507. Personally, I think his world ranking underestimates his ability and he’s worth a punt this week. There are plenty of chances at the top of the market but, Louis Albertse represents great value here at triple-figure odds
