Welcome back my racing friends. I hope that you are all well and have been following my selections. If you have, then you’ll know that we have been doing rather well just lately. But let’s move swiftly on…
Royal Ascot is just around the corner and I will be putting up some tasty ante post selections for you during the course of this week, so don’t forget to keep checking in for those. In the meantime, there is plenty of great racing to keep us all entertained.
Starting with tomorrow’s action, I have put up three selections for you, one from Brighton, one from Salisbury and then one in the evening at Ayr, so let’s get straight on and take a look at them!
Despite all of the winners my followers will have enjoyed over the last week or so, that doesn’t mean that the odd free bet or two won’t come in handy. And for today I’m highlighting the Bet £5, Get £30 in free bets offer that you can currently claim at Bet Victor. This one of my personal favourites and surely worth more than a second glance!
This is a pretty decent looking Handicap and despite the fact that there are only six runners, it should be a really good watch. Superstar Dj, who runs for the Richard Spencer team, is a likely suspect to be on the premises at the finish line. If he runs true to form, then his run will come late on. He also has the benefit of Billy Loughnane on board and Billy’s 3lb claim puts the icing on the cake, so to speak. Another threat is Twilight Guest, who has shown us plenty of good form when he is on song.
However, I think the bet of the day is Charlie Johnston’s Mickey Mongoose. This one should really relish the step up in trip here, having done his best work in the final stages of his last two starts. His latest run came at Carlisle, where he was a little slowly into stride, but managed to gather some decent momentum through the middle stages, ultimately losing out for a bit of toe at the end. It was simply that slow start which scuppered his chances of the win.
Connections must see something in him at home to send him on a 600-mile round trip from North Yorkshire to Brighton as their only runner there. I’m not entirely sure how this race will pan out tactically, but I think he will get plenty of cover and then try take command of the race from the furlong pole. Superstar Dj Is likely to finish strongly from the back of the pack, but my gut feeling says Mickey Mongoose will prove to be too good for him and he is my NAP selection for Tuesday.
A nice fillies race here, which the market indicates is between the top three, but not in my eyes. I much prefer New Heights, who if returning back to her peak form, beats these doing handstands. She won off a mark 2 lb higher than this in July last year and although she may have lost her way a little since, she will be returning to her favoured fast ground at Salisbury, which I think will benefit her greatly.
Soft ground isn’t exactly in her pedigree either, so it’s no surprise that she went off the boil a little at the start of this season, but now might be the right time to catch her. She won twice at Sandown and once at Epsom on the same fast ground we’ll have at Salisbury and it’s obvious she needs it.
The main danger I see here is Confills, another filly who loves a fast surface, but going off her peak form, New Heights is the one to beat. She may have actually gone a little unnoticed on paper and she will only get this one chance from me, but I feel it’s one that’s worth taking at her price.
There are plenty of decent horses open to improvement in this field, but none more so than the David O’Meara-trained filly Churchella, who was born half-smart, being a daughter of Churchill. She showed some significant improvement when she stepped into Handicap company last time out at Leicester and would have probably finished even closer than a 3-length second if she wasn’t so slowly away at the start.
However, she did travel really strongly throughout the race and was only beaten by a big improver in the name of Gallimimus come the finish line. That effort alone shows us there is more to come from her. Her mark here is very lenient and she only goes up 1lb for her most recent effort. I think she will have learned a lot from her first Handicap experience and despite the improvers around her, I’m sure she will be really hard to keep out of the first two.
If you’re already signed up with Bet Victor, no worries. Right here there are over £250 worth of bookie offers up for grabs. With Royal Ascot only days away, don’t be the one to miss out on a great deal.
It has been another really good week for my selections, having landed the 1,2,3 for the golf and then putting up three winning picks for the racing on Monday at odds of 10/1, 8/1 and 5/2. Obviously, I’m looking to continue in the same form this week. You’ll find the link for my Discord chat, along with all of the other ways to follow me, below.
