FRIENDS DON’T ASK proved me wrong last time out by beating what I thought was a good thing in the name of MONTANNA and he did it in a really convincing style. He travelled well and jumped beautifully all the way round and won with a fair bit in hand. He has the beating of MR MAFIA already who reopposes off a not too dissimilar mark.
I can’t see the result changing, even though 12y-o MR MAFIA is shorter than him in the betting. I think FRIENDS DON’T ASK will make a really bold bid of this from the front and considering how well he jumps, he may be hard to catch if his rivals have not improved since there last outing. Great value at 9/2.
WRITE IT DOWN is a really interesting contender here coming back off a month break and has a featherweight as he contests for this Handicap. He has a very interesting conditional jockey on board CAOLIN QUINN who takes off a valuable 5lbs and that just adds to my selection’s chances, especially each-way @ 8/1.
On his best form he would be bang there and after a long season this small break should have him fully fit and ready to go for this. He hit a flat spot last time but still managed to finish in the placings and I think a big run could be on the cards here.
