It has been a really unlucky week for my selections, with runner after runner rocking up in second place, but let’s put that behind us as it’s almost time for some weekend action!
First things first, I have two really strong selections for you to take a look at on the Market Rasen card tomorrow and I really do think I’ve picked two good ones that can help us end the week in style.
I’m getting back to my old-style weekend previews from tomorrow, where I’ll be taking a look at all of the best races for Saturday and dissecting them to try and track you down some winners.
In addition, I am gathering four selections for Royal Ascot 2023, which kicks off on 20 June and I’ll be combining those into a Lucky 15 which I’ll be dropping early next week, so don’t forget to keep checking in.
It’s Friday, which means it’s free bet time and I have another cracking offer for you! Bet Victor are offering an epic bonus, which means that if you bet just £5, you will get £30 in free bets. This is by far my favourite offer out there right now, especially with the weekend racing fast-approaching.
There is a really good line up for this Handicap Hurdle and King Alexander heads the betting for Nicky Henderson and Nico De Boinville. He won last time out at Ffos Las, at very short odds, and is probably going to go well again, but I fancy one who could (and should) still be open to a lot more improvement.
So, my NAP for Friday is the Milton Harris-trained Mullinaree. He has won three on the bounce at Fontwell and wasn’t pushed, or given a hard time, he just won easily with plenty in the tank. He’s a real flashy looker who has taken a while to mature, which is typical of Kayf Tara’s progeny, but that means he is still very much open to improvement, even though this is a step up in Grade.
I’m convinced we have yet to see the extent of this lad’s ability and although this is a slightly longer trip, it’s still well within his reach when judging from his performance over the last three months. The fact that he hasn’t won by big distances has protected his precious Handicap mark and definitely looks good enough to contest here.
Milton Harris is a very astute man when it comes to judging horses and he does exceptionally well with his Hurdlers and Mullinaree is a prime example of that. He has gone very well with the addition of a hood, similar tactic to that used for his stable mate, Knight Salute, who went on to become the number one Juvenile in the country – they are very shrewd operators indeed on the Harris team.
The big danger in my eyes is Luttrell Lad, running for Tom Lacey, who actually drops down in Grade for this race, but I am not daunted, Mullinaree is ticking all of the right boxes for me and I genuinely think he’ll take all of the beating here.
This is another good Handicap and I imagine a lot of eyes will be drawn to the favourite Betty Baloo, who is a really consistent mare in search of a three-timer at Market Rasen. However, on raw ability, I much prefer Gentleman Valley, who runs here for the Ben Pauling team.
He is one of those horses that has been a tricky ride, but that doesn’t hide the fact that he has bags of ability and 10lb Claimer, Dylan Whelan on board. Dylan got a really good tune out of him last time out at Warwick, where he won decisively – no mean feat on such a tricky little course.
I think he is by far the best Handicapped horse in this race and if he gets into a rhythm, I think he is absolutely the one to beat here. He has won three of his last eight starts over Hurdles and has slowly started to get the hang of things. I don’t think a 3lb rise for his last win is enough to stop him going in this time and he has a big chance to back up Warwick form.
Even if you already have a Bet Victor account, it's no problem, right here at Betting.co.uk there's a huge selection of alternatives for you to pick from. Happy days!
Thanks for reading once again, I do appreciate your support and hopefully we can finish the week on a high as we head into the Group racing this weekend. I’ll be back tomorrow with a full preview so stay tuned, but until next time, good luck with your bets!
