It would be fair to say that the past two weeks have been pretty poor on the tipping front, but hopefully we can turn things around today. And to get the show on the road, I have five big betting tips lined up for you. Four I will be backing to win and the fifth is a very promising each way shout.
As an extra treat for you, I have also posted a runner-by-runner guide to the Northumberland Plate today, so make absolutely sure to check that out too, but for now, let’s get the party started.
This weekend I have an offer for you provided by Ladbrokes. If you bet just £5, you will get £20 in free bets, so don’t miss out on a great chance to boost your betting bankroll.
Last year Roman Dragon won over course and distance off a mark 5lb higher than he carries this weekend and I am hoping that with his favourable low draw, he can get himself back into the winner’s enclosure. He finished a close fourth here last time out and looks like he could be ready to put on a big performance today.
He does have half a length to find with Cuban Breeze here, but Roman Dragon does all his best work late on and I think the form will be reversed this time from a better draw. He seems to be getting right back on form, with his last run being a big step in the right direction and he holds very strong claims here.
Lexington Knight has been having a really good season and seems in great form coming into this race. He runs off top weight, which is not surprising, as he is dropping down in Grade to contest here. On his penultimate start he won at Doncaster and only went down by a neck at Thirsk last time out.
He often comes off the bridle early on, but stays really well over this trip and a repeat performance of any of his last three runs makes him the one to beat here. He’s as honest as you like and he will take a lot of stopping in this lightweight company.
In the 6.05 at Lingfield I think Zebra Star has the class to pull this off. She is a Gregorian filly who is seemingly on the upgrade at last. Connections have struggled to find the ideal trip for this filly, which has made her difficult to win with, but they may finally have found her sweet spot, judging from her performance over 1m 2f last time out.
She stayed on strongly at the end and if she had been produced a little earlier, she could easily have been in the winner’s enclosure that day. I genuinely thought she was going to be fighting it out for favouritism today, but the bookies are being rather generous and giving us plenty of value here at 15/2.
Last time out Queens Company took a big step forward to win in good style on her first try at 1m 2f and should be able to build on that again. She came from off the pace and showed great gears to get the job done in style.
The 4lb rise in weight won’t be enough to stop her improving here, which should make her very competitive indeed. She stays better than the majority of runners in this race and the good ground also seems to be much to her liking. I think this much-improved performer will go very close again here.
Another that has caught my eye at Doncaster is Fantasy Maker, who runs for Darryll Holland. He is back at a handy mark and represents good each way value. He already has three good wins to his name, all of which have come at Nottingham. Notably, he is Daryll’s only runner here today and he won’t want it to be a wasted journey.
His best efforts have come on the fast ground, the most recent of which was on his penultimate start, where he finished second at Ascot and that form makes him a major player in my eyes. If Fantasy Maker is back to his best form, then the price on offer is too big to miss, he has a really big chance here.
