The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is just over six months away and there are still three tournament places up for grabs. In our latest World Cup betting article, We take a look at next week’s European playoffs.

Against the odds

The final European spot in Qatar will be taken by one of Ukraine, Scotland or Wales. The first two sides meet in Glasgow on the 1st June for the right to play Wales in Cardiff four days later.

The fact that Ukraine are able to get a strong squad together for the fixture is remarkable given the situation in the country, but they have a talented squad and will present a stiff challenge for the Scots. Players such as Oleksandr Zinchenko and Roman Yaremchuk bring high quality to the Ukrainian squad, whilst in Andriy Piatov they have a vastly experienced shot-stopper.

The long wait is over?

It has been 24 long years since Scotland last graced a World Cup, but there is growing belief that this could finally be their year. In Andrew Robertson they have a genuine world class player, plus John McGinn, Scott McTominay and Che Adams are established Premier League players. Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney will be a big injury miss, but with a raucous Hampden crowd cheering them on, this could be a memorable night for the Scots.
