The Uggla family completed their takeover of York in the 2023 summer. It marked a new era for the Yorkshire club, who have ambitions of returning to the Football League. With York sat top of the National League, we look at the Uggla era so far.
The purchase of the club was met with scepticism in the footballing community, with Yeovil fans in particular critical due to Matt Uggla's erratic spell at the Glovers. Alongside his mother, Julie Anne purchased a 51% stake in the club through their company, 394 Sports.

His first season owning the club was a learning curve. The club made 20 signings and had three managers in a chaotic season. Michael Morton was sacked at the end of August after a winless start to the season. Former Solihull Moors manager Neal Ardley was appointed, but with York engulfed in a relegation battle, he was dismissed in February.
Uggla then appointed Adam Hinshelwood of Worthing FC as the new manager in February, and the 40-year-old kept the Minstermen up by the skin of their teeth.
With a bloated squad and a hefty wage bill, Hinshelwood had plenty of work to do to hone his squad to challenge at the top. 13 signings have been made so far, with quality prioritised over quantity. Ollie Pearce, Ricky Aguiar, Harrison Male and Joe Felix were reunited with Adam Hinshelwood. Tyrese Sinclar and Ashley Nathaniel-George were also signed from Rochdale and Maidenhead respectively.
In the past week, marauding wing-back Jeff King was signed from Swindon after an impressive campaign for champions Chesterfield. David Ajiboye became the fifth former Worthing player to join York, with the pacey winger arriving on loan from Peterborough. It is a new-look Minstermen side from last season, with the only 2023 summer signings remaining: Callum Howe, Daniel Batty, Dipo Akinyemi and Marvin Armstrong.
Hinshelwood is working wonders with York and currently has them second in the league. The Minstermen are currently third top scorers in the league and have the best defensive record.
With York playing fantastic football, big crowds returning to the LNER stadium and a talented squad, the Yorkshire side will fancy their chances of returning to the Football League for the first time since 2016.
