After three wins and a half win from the last Non-League best bets, Matthew O'Regan is back with his five best bets for this weekends slate.
In their first season back in the National League, AFC Fylde finished in 18th place, just three points clear of safety. Chris Beech's side were entertaining, with their games averaging 3.4 goals. Games at Mill Farm saw The Coasters scored an average of 1.66 goals.
This season, they've started strong, beating Solihull Moors 3-2 thanks to a Nick Haughton hat trick. This was followed up by a 4-2 loss to Eastleigh, despite a first-half Nick Haughton brace. A respectable 1-1 draw at Oldham followed, giving The Coasters their fourth point of the season.
Maidenhead are Saturday's visitors. Alan Devonshire's side have lost all three games this season, losing 0-1 and 0-2 at home to Altrincham and Eastleigh respectively, as well as losing 2-1 away at Solihull Moors.
The Magpies struggled on the road last season, conceding 42 goals in 23 games, accumulating just 23 points.
Best Bet: AFC Fylde over 1.5 goals - 2.00
Despite finishing sixth last season, Gateshead were denied entry into the playoffs due to a dispute with the local council over their ground.
The Heed were entertaining throughout, scoring 88 goals in the season, with only title winners Chesterfield and runners-up Barnet scoring more. At home, Gateshead scored 47 goals in 23 games. This season, there is a real belief that Gateshead can go the whole way and win the league and their start to the season would only further this belief.
Gateshead followed up a resounding 5-1 home win over Ebbsfleet by beating Woking 0-2 away from home, before earning a respectable 1-1 draw at FC Halifax.
Yeovil stormed to the National League South title last season and have started this campaign in good form. After losing the season opener 0-1 to Hartlepool, Mark Cooper's side beat Braintree 0-1 and Ebbsfleet 3-2 in an end-to-end classic.
However, Gateshead are a side that scores goals for fun, so Mike Williamson's side will be expected to remain in the top two after this game.
Best Bet: Gateshead over 1.5 goals @ 1.83 - Bet365
After a topsy-turvy return to the National League last season, Hartlepool look to have restored clarity this season thanks to the appointment of wily campaigner Darren Sarll.
The Monkey Hangers have seven points from three games and are yet to concede. A commendable 0-0 home draw with Southend was sandwiched in between 0-1 away wins at Tamworth and Yeovil.
Wealdstone are one of four teams yet to gain a point in the National League thus far. Matthew Taylor's side have so far lost 2-1 to Dagenham and Redbridge and 0-1 at home to Sutton and Oldham. Last season, the Stones ranked 22nd for away form, gaining just 20 points on their travels.
With the absence of 10-goal striker Sean Adarkwa, Wealdstone may fail to break down a Hartlepool defence that has proven impenetrable thus far this season.
Best Bet: Hartlepool to win @1.83 - Bet365
Radcliffe and Needham Market are two of the National League North newbies, with Radcliffe storming to the Northern Premier League title and Needham Market winning the Southern Premier League Central title.
While both teams were at the same level last year, it could be argued that the Northern Premier Divison was the stronger of the leagues - a league Radcliffe won by 10 points while scoring 103 goals in 40 games.
56 of these goals came in just 20 home games, for an average of 2.80 goals per home game. Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson are well backed by wealthy owners and the aim is promotion to the National League.
The Boro have struggled thus far after drawing 3-3 at home to Scarborough and losing 3-0 and 2-0 away at Kidderminster and Chester respectively. However, there is no sense of internal panic yet as Chester and Kidderminster are the two favourites for the league title.
Radcliffe's form at the Neuven Stadium will see them be succesful - a ground where they've scored at least two goals in 12 of their last 13 games.
Needham Market have had an even tougher start, losing all three of their games as they sit rooted to the bottom of the table. A 3-0 away loss to Curzon Ashton was followed by a 1-2 loss to Southport and a 0-1 loss to Scunthorpe - a game in which the Iron perhaps could've more goals.
Radcliffe plays aggressive front-foot football and will look to score a few past a vulnerable-looking Needham Market side.
Best Bet: Radcliffe over 1.5 goals @1.80 - bet365
After a shock back-to-back relegation, Scunthorpe went into the 2023/2024 National League North season as clear favourites to win the title. However, Tamworth took the crown, with The Iron defeated on penalties in the semi-final by Boston United.
Andy Butler's side have started this season strongly, winning all three of their games. A 3-0 away win at Brackley opened the season before Marine were swept aside by the same scoreline at Glandford Park. A midweek away trip to Needham Market presented a potential banana skin, but Scunny emerged 1-0 victory in a nitty gritty performance.
Scunthorpe accumulated the most home points last season (52), so their away performances thus far will greatly appease the hierarchy.
Chorley have started the season with one win, one draw and a loss. Like Scunthorpe, Chorley suffered play-off semi-final heartbreak, losing 1-0 to a resilient Brackley side. Andy Preece's side were a mixed bag on their travels, picking up 32 points while scoring 31 goals and conceding 29.
However, Scunthorpe's resources and club size are enough to defeat any team in the National League North, so the Iron look appealing odds to make it four wins from four.
Best Bet: Scunthorpe win @1.80 - bet365
