Boston United host Altrincham at the Jakemans Community Stadium in a huge match at either side of the table and we have our match preview and betting predictions.
Boston United looked dead and buried and set for an instant relegation back to the National League North. However, the appointment of Graham Coughlan was an inspired choice and has the Pilgrims on the brink of safety. Boston now sit three points clear of Dagenham & Redbridge who sit 21st. Since the 1-3 victory over the Daggers on the first of March, Coughlan's side have picked up 20 points from a possible 36. They also rank third in the league for form over the last 15 games.
It has been the way form that has been so strong, picking up wins over AFC Fylde, Dagenham & Redbridge, Yeovil, Braintree, Rochdale and Aldershot in recent weeks, as well as taking the scalp of playoff hopefuls Southend at home. If Boston are to stay up, their home form must improve. Only basement boys Ebbsfleet have taken fewer points at home.
Jai Rowe has been the sides key player in their quest for the great escape. The right wing back scored five goals en route to promotion last year and has followed that up with seven goals this campaign, including five in his last 11.
Altrincham are wobbling at the wrong time. A last-gasp winner against Yeovil last week halted a run of seven games without a win, including five straight losses. Phil Parkinson's side looked a shoe-in for the playoffs but now sit one point off Rochdale. The Robins can take solace in the fact that Oldham, Halifax, Gateshead and Oldham are all faltering in recent weeks and are within touching distance of the quartet. Altrincham have been steady on the road, taking 26 points in 20 games but have failed to win their last three - something Parkinson will be desperate to eradicate.
Regan Linney has been the stand out again for his side this year, scoring 21 goals - the second most in the league. If Altrincham are to kick on and achieve playoffs the 27-year-old will be crucial.
Score Prediction: 1-1
Best Bet: Regan Linney to Score @ 2.60
