Chorley host Kings Lynn in the first of the National League North Quarter Finals. We have our match preview and betting predictions.
Chorley secured their place in the playoffs after ending the season with back-to-back wins, beating Radcliffe 5-0 and Rushall Olympic 1-5. The win at Rushall was their first on their travels for eight games, so Andy Preece would've been delighted to get over that hurdle. The Magpies were defeated in the semi-finals of the playoffs last season after coming fourth, so will be keen to avenge themselves this time around.
With the likes of Scunthorpe, Kidderminster and Chester in the playoffs, Chorley are up against it but will fancy their chances at home against Kings Lynn. Only Scunthorpe have a better record than Chorley at home who have won eight of their last nine at Victory Park, losing just twice infront of their fans this season.
Mark Ellis has been a crucial player for the Magpies this year. The 36-year-old signed from York at the start of last season and has been a mainstay in the side since. The veteran centre half is crucial in marshalling the defence, as well as chipping in with 12 goals this campaign - the most in the squad.
Kings Lynn will be disappointed at having to play this game away, only needing a point on the final day to secure a home game. The Linnets lined up against a Chester side who rotated heavily but were still beaten 0-3 - a result that is sure to have angered Adam Lakeland.
His side were six unbeaten heading into the final game, conceding just once in this run. The National League North in general has been a league where defences have come out on top, so the 40-year-old can take solace in his sides water-tight defence - something that may be key on Tuesday night.
The Linnets also boast an impressive away record, taking 40 points from 23, with their last away loss coming on the 25th of February against Kidderminster Harriers. Both fixtures between Chorley and Kings Lynn have been tight this year, with Chorley winning 2-1 at Victory Park, before holding firm for a 0-0 draw away from home.
Score Prediction: Chorley 1-0 Kings Lynn
