This weeks National League TNT clash sees relegation threatened Dorking host soon-to-be champions Chesterfield at Meadowbank.
After comfortably staying up in their debut National League season, Dorking are struggling this season, sat 23rd in the league. However, all hope is not lost as they are one point off safety and only six points off 13th. Another positive in a dim season is that their safety is in their own hands, with only Wealdstone having played less games in the bottom half.
Managed by owner Marc White, Wanderers' story is remarkable, gaining 12 promotions in their 25 year history. However, as it stands they are on course for their first ever relegation.
A big reason for their struggles this season is their failure to make Meadowbank a fortress, with no teams picking up less home points than Dorking's 17. In fact, they've accumulated more points (21) on their travels. White's side last home victory came in January, overcoming ten men, injury ravaged Gateshead 1-0.
With 39 goals scored and 57 conceded, Dorking games have averaged 2.82 goals per game.
Chesterfield have had the champagne on ice since September, with Paul Cook's side winning 10 of their opening 12 games, seeing them build an uncatchable lead early doors.
The Spireites have been break taking this season, winning 27, drawing four and losing just four of their 35 league games and are currently 23 points clear of 2nd place Bromley. A win on Saturday will put them eight points away from a return to the Football League for the first time in six years.
Paul Cook is a highly ambitious manager and will want more than just the inevitable title win. Wrexham won last season's title with a record breaking 111 points and Cook will have this record firmly in his sights. Chesterfield need 26 points from a possible 33 to achieve this feat. It was looking very plausible, until a mini blip that saw them go three matches without a win threatened to put a spanner in the works.
Unsurprisingly, Chesterfield boast the best attacking record in the league by far, scoring 86 goals. 31 goals in 11 games is needed to equal Notts County's record from last season. However, despite their dominance in the goalscoring department, only Tom Naylor (10) and Will Grigg (22) have reached double figures for goals this season.
Last season marked a historic one for Dorking as they reached the National League for the first time in their short history. Marc White's side more than held their own, finishing the season in 16th, nine points clear of relegation.
To survive so comfortably despite conceding 91 goals (the second highest in the league) was testament to their potent attack. Dorking games were very entertaining, averaging 3.43 goals. Veteran James McShane shone, scoring 17 goals.
Chesterfield suffered penalty heartbreak in the playoff final. Finishing the season on 84 points and in third due to the historic seasons by Wrexham and Notts County, the Spireites were rewarded with a home tie against Bromley in the playoff Semi Finals.
They survived multiple scares, winning on the stroke of extra time half time thanks to a Liam Mandeville goal. The playoff final was even more dramatic. Andrew Dallas put them ahead after five minutes from the penalty spot, before John Bostock equalised in the 87th minute. Armando Dobra thought he had won it for Chesterfield three minutes into extra time, but Rúben Rodrigues levelled the score again in the 108th minute.
Chesterfield then lost on penalties, seeing Notts County return to the Football league. Most other seasons a team as talented as Chesterfield would've been promoted, so they have done themselves justice by all but securing it this year.
Signed in the summer from National League South side Worthing, Harrison Male has been excellent in his first season at the Wanderers and is a major reason for their improvement defensively from last season.
The 23-year-old is small for a goalkeeper but possesses fine agility and has all the tools to play at a higher level, boasting fantastic ball playing ability.
This man needs no introduction. The 32-year old was signed in the summer from MK Dons, with the hopes of reviving a stuttering career - something he has certainly done.
Grigg is the second top scorer in the league with 22 goals and has scored in four consecutive starts, as well as scoring off the bench in the 2-0 win over Barnet.
1-4 Chesterfield @ 17.00
Will Grigg to Score @ 1.83
