While some games fell victim to the weather, eight games were played in the FA Trophy 4th Round on Saturday. We take a look at every game below.
Chatham Town (Isthmian League Step 3) produced a huge FA Trophy upset by beating National League Carlisle United 1–0 at the Bauvill Stadium. The only goal came in the 26th minute from Matt Macarthur’s superb free‑kick, which curled into the corner and proved enough to see off their higher‑ranked opponents. Chatham defended resolutely throughout, keeping Carlisle’s chances to a minimum and now reach the fifth round of the FA Trophy for the first time in the club’s history.
Forest Green Rovers progressed with a solid 2–0 win away at Ebbsfleet in the FA Trophy. Forest Green took the lead through Isaac Moore just before half‑time, and late in the second half Temi Babalola sealed the victory. Ebbsfleet struggled to create many clear chances, while the visitors were efficient in front of goal to book their place in the next round.
This tie was a roller‑coaster. AFC Fylde raced into a 2–0 lead by half‑time, but Hereford mounted a strong second‑half comeback to level the scores. With neither side able to find a winner after 90 minutes, the match went straight to penalties — and Fylde held their nerve to prevail in the shootout and move into the next round.
Horsham overturned a two‑goal deficit to beat Step 4 Leatherhead 3–2 in a dramatic FA Trophy tie. Leatherhead had taken a commanding 2–0 lead, but Horsham responded with three unanswered goals to snatch the win. The comeback saw Horsham into the next round and brought a tough cup exit for the hosts.
In a tight contest, Sion Spence put Gloucester City ahead, but Marine hit back through James Potter to make it 1–1. After neither side could find a winner in 90 minutes, the game went to penalties — and Marine prevailed in the shootout to advance.
Walton & Hersham continued their strong league form by adding a notable FA Trophy win to their season. The Step 3 side defeated Brackley Town, who play two divisions higher, with a late goal from Mason Obeng sealing a 1–0 victory. The win sees Walton & Hersham progress to the fifth round of the FA Trophy for the first time in their history, marking a major milestone for the club.
Wealdstone booked their place in the next FA Trophy round with a tight 1–0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge. The decisive moment came in the closing stages when Mitch Obiero struck a late goal, giving the Stones the edge in a close match.
Yeovil and Alvechurch played out a goalless draw, but Yeovil faced adversity early on — going down to ten men inside the first 25 minutes. Despite being a man short for much of the game, Yeovil defended well to keep it level and then won the penalty shootout to progress.
