The National League is an underrated league, both by neutrals and bookies. Value can often be found in an array of markets, most notably the goal-scorer market. I have picked out four goal-scorer picks, which I believe are nice odds.
Chesterfield are league favourites, and for good reason. They have a plethora of attacking talent, as showcased in their 4-3 victory over Dorking last Saturday. Ryan Colclough got his name on the scoresheet, adding to his 14 goals for Altrincham and Chesterfield last season. He is the lynchpin in this side, and with The Spireites expected to win in a high-scoring affair, Colclough’s price of 4.33 with Bet 365 looks too good to turn down.
Signing from the conveyor belt of academy talent that is Brighton, big things were expected of Lorent Tolaj. The Swiss youth international lived up to expectations, scoring twice in a dominant 5-2 victory for Aldershot on the opening gameweek. He showed his tendency to shoot, recording seven shots at an XG of 1.87. He is strong and powerful and possesses a dangerous left foot. He should score plenty of goals this season, and in the future, we will be lucky to get the 3.6 on offer for him to score for the Shots this week.
Gateshead scored two against a well-drilled Boreham Wood side. This showed how strong Mike Williamson’s side looked going forward in 2023. Marcus Dinanga has been at the forefront of this, scoring 12 goals last season. The 26-year-old also managed to score after nine minutes last Saturday. If Dinanga continues his fine 2023 form, I fancy him getting on the scoresheet against Hartlepool.
The last selection comes in the form of Altrincham forward Regan Linney. While he didn’t get on the scoresheet last week like the other three selections, the 26-year-old has flexed his goalscoring muscles the last few seasons, scoring a hatful for FC United before Altrincham acquired his services. He scored six in 18 for the Lancashire club, and with the supply of Chris Conn-Clarke, I fancy him to score plenty this season. He has the added bonus of being on penalties.
