It never rains, it pours and that’s exactly what it feels like at the moment for Ebbsfleet United fans, with the news breaking today that Harry Watling has stepped down after just three months in charge of the National League Outfit.
The season has been nothing short of dire for The Fleet, having won one game all season, without a goal in over 400 minutes of football and most recently, out of the FA Trophy to Sutton United last weekend.
In an official statement on the club website, it reads
“Following discussions today between the club and Harry Watling, it has been mutually agreed to part ways.
“The club wishes to place on record our thanks to Harry for his efforts since joining in September.
“Josh Wright will take the role of first-team manager going forward, assisted by David Kerslake.”
It remains to be seen whether Wright can turn the Fleet’s fortunes around, with his first game being probably one of the toughest in the division, a trip to second-placed Barnet, who have won all bar one of their home games this season.
Ebbsfleet finished the season in 19th last year and would snap your hand off for a repeat this season. Firstly, he must improve their away form that has seen them concede 27 goals in ten games, picking up just two points in the process.
