Best ever FA Trophy record:Quarter-Finals (2025–26) ⭐ (club record)
For Horsham, this is uncharted territory. The club are playing in the FA Trophy quarter-final for the first time ever, having produced a historic victory away at Scunthorpe United in the last round. It caps a remarkable period in the club’s history, with Horsham competing in National League South football for the first time and continuing to exceed expectations.
Much of that success has been built under the long-term stewardship of Dominic Di Paola, who has transformed the club during his eleven years in charge. Horsham have been particularly impressive on the road this season, collecting more away points than at home- the best away return in the league.
One of the standout performers has been James Hammond. The 28-year-old, who has spent much of his career floating around the Sussex non-league scene, is in his first season at the club and has already scored 12 league goals, becoming a key attacking outlet in this memorable campaign.

For Southend United, reaching this stage is also a club-best FA Trophy run. As a historic Football League club, the competition has rarely featured prominently in their past, making this season’s progress all the more notable. They've had quite a fortunate draw, beating a Step Two and Three away, as well as National League strugglers Truro City at home.
League form suggests a strong and well-organised side. Southend currently sit seventh on goal difference but crucially have four games in hand on the teams around them. Their defensive record is among the best in the division, with just 29 goals conceded, while their away form has been solid, taking 25 points from 17 matches on the road.
A key figure has been attacking right-back Gus Scott-Morriss, who has scored nine league goals this season after netting an impressive 17 last campaign. His threat from wide areas adds a dangerous dimension to Southend’s play.
