The games are coming thick and fast in the National League. After Saturday, we saw the second round of fixtures and are blessed with a midweek slate. Here we look at the four best bets for Tuesday's action.
To the surprise of many, Eastleigh currently sit joint top of the league having won their opening two games. While they were against teams they would be expecting to beat, the performances and proficiency of the results would greatly please manager Kelvin Davis.
The Spitfires started the season with a comfortable 0-2 win at Maidenhead, with a Will De Havilland own goal and Jake Vokins strike on the stroke of half time saw them coast to victory. A spectacular comeback against AFC Fylde followed this up. Nick Haughton had put the visitors into a surprise 0-2 lead after just 27 minutes before Jake Taylor pulled one back a few minutes later.
It was a quick start to the second half for the hosts, with last season's top scorer Paul McCallum scoring three minutes after the interval. Another from McCallum and Chris Maguire saw the comeback complete.
Last season, Eastleigh finished 13th in the league, scoring 73 goals and conceding 87, with their games averaging 3.48 goals per game.
Solihull Moors have also had an entertaining start to the season. After penalty shootout heartbreak in the Playoff final and the FA Trophy final, Moors were determined to start the season on the front foot. Unfortunately, this did not come to fruition as they were defeated 3-2 at AFC Fylde in a roller coaster of a game.
However, this was followed up by a 2-1 home win against Maidenhead, putting Andy Whing's side in 11th place, within touching distance of the playoffs. Last season, their games averaged 2.89 goals per game, with the Moors scoring 71 goals and conceding 62.
In what should be an end-to-end game that both teams will look to win, expect goals.
Best Bet: Over 2.5, 3.0 goal line @ 1.875 - bet365
After a couple of years of chaos, owing to a gluttonous owner, the future finally looks bright for Southend United. Manager Kevin Maher has performed miracles for The Shrimpers in recent years, just missing out on the playoffs last year by six points - despite a ten-point deduction.
With the transfer embargo now lifted, Southend will be aiming to return to the EFL and have started the season unbeaten. In typical Kevin Maher fashion, the Shrimpers have been solid defensively, only conceding once in their opening two games. Southend had the best defensive record last season, conceding just 45 goals.
Roots Hall was also a fortress for Southend last season, picking up 42 points - conceding just 21 goals and the games averaging 2.82 goals.
Boston United snuck into the National League North playoffs last season by just one point. An incredible playoff run that saw them beat Alfreton and Scunthorpe away on penalties after back-to-back stalemates, was concluded when they beat Brackley Town away 1-2.
It has been a harsh return to the National League for the Pilgrims, losing 0-3 to Rochdale and 0-4 to Forest Green. In their first away game of the season, they will be dreading having to face Southend. Like Kevin Maher, Ian Culverhouse is a manager who errs on the side of caution, with Boston United games last season averaging just 2.48.
Things don't look to be getting easier for Boston United and another defeat looks to be in store.
Best Bet: Southend United to win and under 5 goals @1.90 - bet365
Despite Scunthorpe being clear favourites for the National League North title, Tamworth won the league at a canter, finishing eight points ahead of The Iron. After back-to-back league wins for the Lambs, they are back in the National League for the first time in ten years.
Andy Peak's side started the season with a respectable 1-1 draw with recently relegated Sutton United, before being comfortably defeated 2-0 by York City. Both games have seen under 2.5 goals - a familiar theme from last season.
Tamworth conceded just 29 goals last season, with their games averaging just 2.24 goals per game. In 23 games at the Lamb Ground, they conceded just 12 goals.
After relegation to the National League, Hartlepool finished mid-table in a chaotic season for the Monkey Hangers. They are looking for more stability this season under the astute management of Darren Sarll. The 41-year-old is meticulous in his ways, and there appears to be more structure to the Hartlepool system this time around.
They opened the season with a 0-1 win at newly promoted Yeovil, before holding Southend to a 0-0 draw. While Sarll will be happy with his side's defensive stability, he will be frustrated at the lack of goals - something his squad lacks outside of Emmanuel Dieseruvwe.
Best Bet: Under 2.5 goals @1.80 - bet365
After a topsy-turvy first season under the ownership of enigmatic figure Matt Uggla, York look to be more settled and the Minstermen have built a squad capable of challenging at the top end of the table. The opening day battling 1-1 draw at Roots Hall was a real indicator of the strength of this squad before a dominant 2-0 win over Tamworth solidified York's promotion hope.
Rochdale started the season with a commanding 0-3 win at Boston United, before a drab 1-1 draw at home to Dagenham and Redbridge. Dale will be looking to build on last season's 11th finish in their first non-league season in their 102-year history. James McNulty's side were poor on their travels last year, picking up just 27 points in 23 games. A tough journey to the LNER stadium awaits.
Best Bet: York 0.0 Asian Handicap @1.850 - bet365
