What better way to spend a Saturday during the international break than watching non-league football and having a 5027.75 odds bet on goals? Exactly, nothing. Read below for my four bet builders from the National League.
We start with a 7.00 odds goalscorer double from the television game between Southend and Chesterfield.
Harry Cardwell has been in fine fettle this season, scoring 11 goals already, with only Paul McCallum, Nicke Kabamba, Marcus Dinanga, and Emmanuel Dieseruvwe (all on 12 goals) scoring more than the 27. With creative lynchpin Jack Bridge supplying him, Cardwell will fancy his chances of scoring in front of the TNT cameras.
Will Grigg rose to prominence in the 2016 Euros due to the famous ‘Will Grigg’s on fire’ chant. However, the Northern Irish international has also rightly gained plaudits for his goalscoring ability, scoring an abudance of goals throughout his career in the EFL. Now at Chesterfield and plying his trade in the National League, the 32-year-old has nine goals under his name, including four in his last three league games.
Cardwell and Grigg to score – 7.00
Onto what is probably going to be the highest scoring game of the day from Spotland as relegated Rochdale host surprise packages Aldershot.
These two teams have identical goal records, both scoring 33 and conceding 32 in 19 games, for an average of 3.42 goals per game. Dale’s last five games have been chaotic, averaging five goals per game. Aldershot are no strangers to chaotic games, shocking League 2 Swindon with a 7-4 win at the County Ground. With that in mind, it would be crazy not to have a goal-scorer pick from this game.
Tyrese Sinclair started the season in scintillating form, scoring eight goals in his opening 16 appearances. However, an unfortunate injury has ruled the 22-year-old out for the foreseeable future. This has meant that Kairo Mitchell has been given a more advanced role. The Grenada international has impressed this season, scoring eight goals already, including two in the last four.
Regular readers of the goalscorer acca won’t be surprised to see the next pick being Joshua Stokes. But with his form, his price is too hard to ignore. The 19-year-old has 10 goals in all competitions, including a goal in the crazy 7-4 win at Swindon and the only goal in last week's 1-0 win at home to Kidderminster.
Mitchell and Stokes to score- 13.00
Another entertaining game is in store as Eastleigh hosts Altrincham.
Paul McCallum is one of four players leading the way with 12 goals so far. The 30-year-old has also scored nine in his last seven starts. He also has a history of prolific goal-scoring seasons, scoring 34 goals in two seasons from 2020–2022, while also scoring 27 goals in the 2018–19 season.
Altrincham’s Chris Conn-Clarke is a man on the radar of many Football League clubs, and rightly so. In his last loan spell with Alty, the youngster scored nine in 28 games. Now playing for Phil Parkinson’s side on a permanent basis, the 21-year-old looks like he will easily surpass this, having already scored eight goals this season.
McCallum and Conn-Clarke to score - 8.50
York and Hartlepool are two teams that were predicted to be challenging near the top of the table. But both sides have struggled, lingering in the bottom half after a string of inconsistent performances. What has been consistent is that both sides tendencies to score and concede goals, with York games averaging 3.36 goals and Hartlepool games averaging 3.52.
After winning the Scottish Championship Player Of The Year with 20 goals for Ayr, Dipo Akinyemi was signed by York. The powerful 26-year-old striker has been impressive in his early York days, scoring eight goals.
Emmanuel Dieseruwe is one of the most in-form strikers in England at the moment. The 28-year-old is currently on a streak of scoring in five games in a row. He will fancy his chances of making it six on the trot against a York side who have conceded the second most goals so far (37).
Akinyemi and Dieseruwe to score: 6.50
Of course, this is a mega longshot, hence the odds so stake sensibly. I am personally playing a lucky 15, with a few pennies on the 4-fold. Best of luck with your punting.
