National League Playoffs - Where Does The Value Lie?

After we predicted the final standings of the chasing pack in the National League, we will now look at those sides chasing the playoffs and assessing the two favourites, as well as an outsider pick.

Barnet:

Odds: 2.37

Pros:

• Dean Brennan's side have been the 'best of the rest' in the National League this campaign
• They have goals on their side - Nicke Kabamba has 19, Callum Stead has 11
• Home Advantage - The Bees will play their semi-final at home

Verdict:

They are perhaps rightly the favourite based on their league position and having home advantage in the semi-finals - however, value perhaps lies elsewhere in the market.

Bromley

Odds: 4.00

Pros:

• Experience - Bromley made the play-offs last campaign
• Defensive Stability- Andy Woodmans' side boasts the second-best defensive record in the league
• Michael Cheek- The 32-year-old has 19 league goals - the 11th consecutive season of scoring double-digits
• Home Advantage- The Lillywhites, like Barnet, most probably have a home advantage

Verdict:

My favourites for the playoffs. Last year's experience will only spur Bromley on. They have a watertight defence that hasn't conceded in the last five, on top of one of the most prolific strikers in National League history - a recipe for promotion.

FC Halifax

Odds: 13.00

Pros:

• Momentum - If FC Halifax are to qualify for the playoffs, they will have to win the large majority of their remaining games and have won seven of their last eight.  Momentum is imperative in playoff football.
• Defensive Stability- The Shaymen have conceded just 44 goals this season.
• Continuity- Chris Millington has been involved at the club for five years.

Verdict:

FC Halifax are the form team in the league. They currently sit sixth in the table yet are priced at 13.00 to gain promotion. If Chris Millington's side can sneak into the playoffs, that 13.00 will look like tremendous value come the end of April.
