After a reduced National League South slate on Saturday due to the FA Cup, we have more games this Tuesday, with a nice 12.00 acca.
Eastbourne Borough stormed to the top of the table with a dominant 2-5 win away at playoff-chasing Hemel Hempstead. Priced as high as 40/1 to win the title pre-season, The Sports have maintained pace with the chasing pack and look good value for their lead at the top.
In Adam Murray, they have one of the best managers in Non-League, as well as one of the biggest budgets, owing to their full-time status. This has allowed them to attract several talented players, such as Ollie Kensdale and Shaun Williams, in recent weeks to shore up the defence.
Boro also have two of the best strikers in the league, with George Alexander and Alfie Pavey scoring 11 goals between them already. Eastbourne have already taken some impressive scalps this season, most notably the 2-1 home win at Boreham Wood and are still unbeaten at Priory Lane.
The sides have already met this season, with Eastbourne running out 0-1 winners at Park View Road.
Welling have struggled this season and currently sit 19th in the table after a resounding 0-4 home loss to fellow struggles Chippenham. The wings have lost six of their last eight games, with the two wins coming in scrappy fashion, defeating St Albans and Enfield Town 1-0. Both sides are in the relegation zone.
Rod Stringers' side have struggled on the road, picking up just four points from seven, scoring just four goals and conceding 14 in the process.
Away to a strong Eastbourne side who have the benefit of extra fitness due to their professional status, Welling may struggle to leave Sussex with any points.
Prediction: Eastbourne Borough To Win
18th-place Salisbury hosts fifth-place Torquay at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium in what should be an entertaining clash.
Salisbury shocked heavy favourites AFC Totton in the Southern League Premier South playoffs to secure promotion to the National League South and have had a mixed start.
The Whites have scored 21 goals and conceded 25, with their games averaging 3.3 goals per game. Of their seven home games, Brian Dutton's side have scored in six, with Both Teams to Score landing in 5/7, as well as 9 of their last ten in all competitions.
Administration and points deductions saw Torquay finish 18th last season - their lowest-ever league finish since 1927. With off-the-field issues seemingly sorted, the Gulls will look to push for promotion back to the Football League.
This season, they sit fifth, just three points off the top. While their games have only averaged 2.5 goals, BTTS has landed in 9/14 games, as well as in five of their last six.
Prediction: Both Teams To Score
Late-season fixture pile-ups saw Truro in a heap of trouble last season, sometimes having to play four games in a week, with their home games played at a neutral ground 120 miles away. Now, back home, the Tinners are reaping the rewards.
As they are the Southernmost city in the UK and are located deep in Cornwall, Truro has a significant advantage at home, especially in midweek. On Tuesday, Chippenham has to make the gruesome 400-mile round trip - a rarity in regionalised leagues.
Under the guise of the experienced John Askey, Truro sit third in the league, picking up eighteen points from their eight home games.
Chippenham currently sit 15th in the league, fresh off of a 0-4 win at struggling Welling. However, with the demands of a long journey so close to the recent away trip to Welling, The Bluebirds will be up against it from the off.
Prediction: Truro Win
Despite losing in extra time to League One side Bristol Rovers, Weston-Super Mare are still 16 games unbeaten in all competitions in normal time and sit third in the league.
Scott Bartlett has built a young and exciting side, with the Seagulls scoring in 16 of their 18 games this season. They currently sit just one point off the top with two games in hand and will see the visit of Weymouth as the perfect opportunity to make ground on leaders Eastbourne.
Since the opening day dramatic 3-4 defeat to Worthing, WSM have won four of their six home games, drawing to league favourites Dorking and Boreham Wood, as well as beating Chelmsford (2-0), Hornchurch (3-2), Slough (2-0) and Aveley (4-1).
After losing their opening seven games, Weymouth are on a mini resurgence, losing just once in their last seven games. The Terras just beat fellow strugglers Aveley 0-1 but face a much sterner test away at a strong Weston-Super Mare side.
Prediction: Weston-Super Mare to win
Saturday was a historic day for Worthing, as a record crowd of 3,110 saw them host a Football League side in a competitive fixture for the first time in their history. While they lost 0-2 to Morecambe, The Rebels were the better side, undone by two set pieces due to the height advantage The Shrimps had.
Tuesday sees a return to the league as they host an Avely side languishing at the bottom of the table. Worthing have won four of their last five league games, with their only loss coming controversially away at Torquay. Chris Agutter has finally got his side to click, and they are looking potent in attack, scoring 24 goals this season, only failing to find the back of the net on three occasions this season.
Aveley defied the odds by securing back-t0-back promotions to the National League South before just missing out on the playoffs in their first season. However, this season has been a torrid one thus far for The Millers as they sit bottom of the table.
Danny Scopes' side have lost six of their last seven games, with their only win coming in a 4-2 win at fellow strugglers Enfield Town. Aveley have picked up just four points on their travels, conceding 15 goals in the process. They may be in for a long evening away at a confident Worthing side.
Prediction: Worthing Win
