Darlington have signed striker Dan Maguire following his release from York City.

When current Darlington boss Alun Armstrong was in charge of Blyth Spartans in season 2018-19, 'Nipa' scored 19 goals to help them into the National League North play offs. He joined full-time club York City in the summer of 2019, and made 14 appearances, scoring twice, before he was released after they were beaten in the play-offs.

“Hopefully Dan is the missing piece in our jigsaw,” said Armstrong.

“We’ve been missing somebody like Nipa who scores goals on a regular basis, and he wants to get back to what he knows best. He’s a phenomenal goalscorer, who can score them out of nothing, especially on the counter-attack."
