Important games across the National League
The division’s current top five all won at the weekend, and will at least remain in the playoff positions regardless of how tonight’s results go. Will these sides continue their strong seasons and break further away from the pack?
At the bottom, Dover Athletic are still without a win. Andy Hessenthaler’s side will look to change that at home to Wealdstone.
King’s Lynn Town nearly shocked form team Bromley on Saturday and will again be looking for an upset away at Stockport County. Aldershot Town picked up an impressive win over Grimsby Town last time, out and will be fresh for tonight’s match having not played on Saturday.
Read on for previews of tonight’s key games and odds courtesy of Betfred.
Boreham Wood vs Notts County
Both these sides have identical records over the last six games, picking up 13 of 18 available points and losing once in that time.
Six points separate the sides going into tonight’s game, with Boreham Wood hot on the heels of league leaders Chesterfield.
Luke Garrard’s side picked up a comfortable 4-0 win over Maidenhead United at the weekend, while Notts’ five game unbeaten run was coming to an end at Eastleigh.
Boreham Wood are unbeaten at home so far this season, while Notts only have an average record on their travels.
The sides last met in March, with both sides having to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw.
The Magpies should provide a sterner test for their hosts, and will be looking to bounce back from their surprise defeat on Saturday.
Another 2-2 draw is more than possible, and may tempt backers with Betfred offering 14/1.
Match odds: Home win 9/5, Draw 21/10, Notts County 6/4
FC Halifax Town vs Wrexham
The Shaymen are quietly turning into one of the season’s surprise packages, and are six points clear of their visitors heading into tonight’s game.
Pete Wild’s Halifax side have kept three clean sheets in their last six games, and have an impressive home record, having lost just once at The Shay this season.
Wrexham may have dominated the headlines this season thanks to their Hollywood connections, but recent games have shown they can back it up too.
They are unbeaten in four and have picked up two heavy wins in that time, albeit against struggling sides.
Wrexham won this fixture 4-0 last season, which doesn’t seem as likely this time around.
If you fancy Wrexham to extend their unbeaten run, Betfred have a 2-1 away win at 8/1.
Match odds: Home win 2/1, Draw 23/10, Away win 5/4
Aldershot Town vs Torquay United
This is an important fixture for both teams in their bids to climb the table.
Aldershot moved into double figures for the season after their impressive win over Grimsby Town earlier this month. The postponement of Southend United vs Maidenhead United gives them a free shot at moving outside the relegation places heading into the weekend.
The Shots ended a five game losing streak with that morale-boosting result, and picked up their first home win of the season to boot.
Torquay’s mini revival came to a halt at the weekend after a 2-1 defeat at Barnet.
Gary Johnson’s side had picked up seven points from nine before that result, and will take heart from Aldershot’s poor defensive record.
They have shipped an average of two goals per game this season and are yet to keep a clean sheet.
It’s unlikely to be a goalfest, but you can get odds of 4/1 for both teams to score and a Torquay win on Betfred.
Match odds: Home win 11/8, Draw 12/5, Torquay United 7/4
