After Pemi Aderoju was recalled by Peterborough, we look at his career so far and what the future may hold for the young talent.
Early Career and Non-League Success
Oluwalopemiwa Adedunmola “Pemi” Aderoju, born on 5 May 2004, is a professional English forward currently contracted to Peterborough United. Known for his physical presence and goal-scoring ability, Aderoju began his football journey in the non-league system, where he quickly made a name for himself as a prolific forward.
He started his senior career with Kempston Rovers before moving to Biggleswade, where he impressed scouts with his consistent scoring. During this period, Aderoju recorded an outstanding run of 12 goals in 12 games, demonstrating his natural finishing and goal intelligence.
In January 2024, Aderoju secured an 18-month contract with Peterborough United following a successful trial. Initially assigned to the under-21 squad, he quickly earned his debut in EFL League One on 10 February 2024 as a late substitute in an away match against Wycombe Wanderers.
To gain first-team experience, Aderoju went on several loan spells. He spent the latter half of the 2024–25 season at Boston United in the National League, featuring in 22 matches. A subsequent loan to Farnborough in January 2025 was cut short due to injury, but the young forward continued to develop and build confidence in senior football.
In July 2025, Aderoju joined Eastbourne Borough on loan in the National League South for the 2025/26 season. The loan move proved to be a turning point in his career. By the end of December 2025, he had scored 20 goals across all competitions, including 15 league goals, making him the second top scorer in the league.
Highlights of his season included scoring four goals in a single match against Hampton & Richmond, multiple braces in FA Cup matches, and crucial goals in league games that showcased his consistency and finishing prowess. His performances helped solidify Eastbourne Borough’s attacking strength and attracted attention from his parent club, Peterborough United.
Thanks to his impressive form at Eastbourne, Peterborough United recalled Pemi Aderoju from his loan spell on 1 January 2026. The recall signals the club’s intention to evaluate his potential role within the first-team squad. Aderoju’s scoring record in the National League South demonstrates his readiness to compete at a higher level and makes him a key prospect for Peterborough’s future plans.
At just 21 years old, Pemi Aderoju has rapidly risen through the ranks of English football. From his beginnings in non-league football to becoming a top scorer in the National League South and earning a mid-season recall to an EFL club, his career trajectory shows both talent and determination.
Whether Aderoju establishes himself in Peterborough United’s first team or embarks on further strategic loan moves, he is a player to watch for fans and scouts alike. His combination of physicality, goal-scoring ability, and confidence makes him a promising talent in English football.
