In a delightful twist of fate, former England striker Peter Crouch found himself leading out non-league side Farnham Town FC as their matchday mascot—a role he humorously embraced due to a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) forfeit. The event, which took place during Farnham's Southern League Premier South clash against Sholing, not only entertained fans but also highlighted the club's rapid rise in the footballing world.
The unusual scenario unfolded when Crouch, co-host of That Peter Crouch Podcast, finished at the bottom of his FPL league. As a result, his co-hosts, Chris Stark and Steve Sidwell, imposed a playful punishment: Crouch was to serve as a mascot for a non-league team. Initially, an EFL club had agreed to host the forfeit but later withdrew. Enter Farnham Town FC.
Club chairman Harry Hugo recounted the unexpected turn of events: "It was around this time that I got a call from Pete whilst I was minding my own business on the golf course. He asked if they could do the forfeit with us at Farnham Town. For me, it was a no-brainer and the wheels were set in motion there and then"
True to his word, Crouch donned Farnham's kit and fully participated in the mascot duties. He took part in pre-match meet and greets, joined the half-time show, and even shared a meal with the other mascots, which humorously included Coke Zero, Haribo, and cookies. His towering 6ft 7in frame made for a comical sight as he walked out hand-in-hand with a young player, blocking the view of fans behind him.
The match itself ended in a 2-2 draw, but it was Crouch's unexpected role that captured the attention of fans and media alike. His involvement drew a record crowd of 2,134 to the Memorial Ground, showcasing the power of community engagement and the charm of non-league football .
Chairman Harry Hugo expressed his satisfaction with how the day unfolded: "Pete, along with Chris Stark and Steve Sidwell, threw everything into it and really embraced the occasion. Chris and Sids even spent time helping at the turnstiles as the fans flocked in"
He further emphasized the significance of the event for the club: "These sorts of days only work if everyone gives their all and gets involved... they were a real credit and made the day work an absolute treat"

Well, a football league club had agreed to host the forfeit and let him and the @PeterCrouchPod down about 4 weeks ago.
