National League newbies Scunthorpe United have confirmed the signing of striker Marcus Carver from Hartlepool United.
It comes just months after Carver swapped National League North Southport for League Two Hartlepool.
Joining on an undisclosed fee, the Blackburn-born forward has been brought in to add a touch of steel to the Iron’s side.

Tipped to struggle this season, Scunthorpe are unlikely to challenge for automatic promotion back to League Two, but the arrival of Carver will be welcomed by the Iron faithful.
Prolific during his days as a non-league player, Carver found goals difficult to come by during his short spell in the Football League.
Carver will be keen to re-discover the form that saw him climb to the top of the National League North top scorer charts last season, before making the switch to Hartlepool.
Speaking to Scunthorpe’s Iron Player channel, Carver expressed his delight at securing a move to the Iron:
“Glad to get it (the move) over the line, just looking forward to getting started.
“I’m a hard worker, I like to put myself about and get myself into the box.

“To bounce back and get us back to the Football League. I understand the gaffer has got a good team and it will take time to break into the team.”
The 28-year-old will be in contention to make his competitive debut for Scunthorpe during Saturday’s season opener against Yeovil Town at Glanford Park.
