We are getting to the business end of the non-league season, with many teams with lots to still play for. After another exhilarating midweek of action, we look at some of the stand-out results and implications.
Truro continue to go under the radar in the promotion hunt in the National League South. The Tinners have now won four in a row and are ten unbeaten. A brace from Tyler Harvey, who now has 22 goals for the season, and a goal from Luke Jephcott saw Truro run away with the win in a quick nine-minute scoring spree in the second half.
John Askey's side are now second in the league, just one point off leaders Worthing (who have a game in hand) Truro still have to travel to Worthing, so the title race is a long way from being concluded.
Chichester are the team to beat at the moment in the Isthmian Premier League. The Lillywhites have soared up the league and now sit just two points outside the playoffs after just one loss in 16, including a seven game winning streak spawning from December to Februrary.
Miles Rutherford's side rushed into a three-goal lead after just 17 minutes thanks to goals from Ethan Prichard and a brace from top scorer Jimmy Wild. Joseph Turner scored a consolation just before halftime but the visitors held firm. With Dover and Cray Valley splaying each other recently and in poor form, Chichester could sneak into the playoffs.
Two teams right in the mix for promotion met at Gallagher Stadium as Maidstone hosted Dorking. A tight and tenacious first half saw the sides go into the break level. Alfie Rutherford put the visitors ahead after 62 minutes before Tom Leahy scored a late equaliser for the hosts. Maidstone now look to have dropped out of automatic promotion contention, while Dorking are just three points off the top.
Wanderers face Torquay, Boreham Wood and Eastbourne Borough in the next three - games that will define their season.
Another promotion contender slipped up as Torquay United were held to a draw at home to Salisbury. The Gulls went into a 13th-minute lead but were pegged back on the brink of halftime due to a Callum Watts goal. Ronan Silva put the visitors ahead after 55 minutes. Will Jenkins-Davies scored after 73 minutes to pull it level, but Paul Wotton's side fell short for the second consecutive home game.
Torquay could see themselves out of promotion contention if they fail to beat Dorking next time out.
While Yeovil have enough points on the board to survive, their recent form will be of big concern to the Huish Park faithful. They came into this game off the back of consecutive away defeats without scoring, and Tuesday's 0-3 loss against Boston United is sure to compound more misery on the Somerset side.
Jimmy Knowles, Jacob Hazel and Zachary Mills got on the scoresheet to give the Pilgrims a much-needed victory as they attempt the great escape. Graham Coughlan's side are now five points off safety with a game in hand.
