Charlton target Thomas transfer-listed by Boreham Wood

Boreham Wood say they have agreed to transfer-list attacking player Sorba Thomas.

The 21-year-old was recently the subject of a bid from Charlton Athletic, with Boreham Wood publicly stating that they had declined the offer but reminded the League One club of their asking price.

With a move having not materialised, the National League side have now decided to circulate Thomas' availability.

Chairman Danny Hunter said: “The club has sat down with Sorba today and we’ve all aired things honestly and sensibly. As such, we’ve all agreed that we will put him on the transfer list with immediate effect.

"That way, we can then see if there is wider interest and take it from there. There’s now ten weeks before the window reopens, and if any interested parties firstly match our very reasonable valuation, then Sorba and his advisors can explore whether the interested club is for them.

“I’ve spoken to the player personally in the exact same way that I’ve done over the last six seasons. He’s a great lad and he knows we care, and he knows he’s still very much loved here.

"That said, both (manager) Luke (Garrard) and myself accept that he’s now keen to explore his options, and we’ll do what we can to help him, but we also need to ensure the club’s interests are served, too."
