The National League South took yet another dramatic turn on Easter Monday as Worthing came from behind to beat Dorking 1-2 to leapfrog the hosts. It was a second consecutive defeat for Wanderers and victory for The Rebels.
Worthing began the game on the front foot at Meadowbank, showing early intent against their promotion rivals. Razzaq Coleman De-Graft was heavily involved in the opening stages, repeatedly testing the Dorking defence and forcing the goalkeeper into action. Sam Beard also had a big opportunity from close range but was unable to convert.
Despite Worthing’s strong start, the hosts gradually grew into the contest, creating chances of their own as the half progressed.
While Worthing looked dangerous going forward, they were equally reliant on goalkeeper Taylor Seymour at the other end. He produced a series of impressive saves to deny Dorking, reacting sharply to efforts from Sam Pearson and others to ensure the visitors went into the break on level terms. His performance proved crucial in keeping Worthing in the game during a competitive first half.
The home side made their breakthrough shortly after half-time. A well-constructed attacking move opened up the Worthing defence, allowing captain Charlie Carter to apply a composed finish and give Dorking the lead early in the second period.
Falling behind sparked an immediate response from Worthing. Just minutes later, Coleman De-Graft got the goal his lively display deserved, finding space and finishing confidently to bring the visitors back level at 1–1.
With the game finely poised heading into the closing stages, both teams searched for a winner. It was Worthing who delivered the decisive moment, as substitute Remeiro Moulton stepped up to fire a superb strike into the top corner late on.
Dorking pushed forward in the final minutes in search of an equaliser, but Worthing held firm defensively to secure all three points. Adam Hinshelwood's side are now top on goal difference with just three games to go.
