A Quick Guide To The Show, And Why The Apprentice Should Be Your Next Novelty Bet

The original US version of The Apprentice started in 2004 and was hosted by Donald Trump. Following its success, a UK version was launched in 2005, with British businessman Lord Alan Sugar at the helm.

The basic format of the show has remained the same throughout its history. The number of contestants varies, but there is always an even number of girls and boys. Each week, the contestants are split into two teams to complete a task. Whichever team wins is sent off for a treat, but at least one member of the losing team is fired (although it’s often more!).

Originally, the winners received a £100,000 a year job as Sir Alan’s apprentice, but since 2011, the prize has been a £250,000 investment into the winning candidate’s own business.

Why Do We Love The Apprentice?

The Apprentice is one of the BBC’s mainstays, and episodes are watched by over 7 million viewers. It regularly evokes feelings of frustration (who hasn’t shouted at the TV to tell the contestants what they should have done), relief (that you’re not taking part), and the guilty enjoyment of watching the candidates throw each other under the bus as they blame each other for the failure of the task.

Great For Novelty Betting

The Apprentice is a brilliant market for novelty betting for many reasons. Each series is broadcast January-March, so the action lasts for a long time, and the number of markets on offer is massive. Contestants can leave at any time, and some even leave the process voluntarily, so you never know what might happen next.

Investigating The Apprentice Betting Markets - Hired, Fired, And Runner-Ups!

A new series of The Apprentice kicks off in January each year, giving fans the chance to bet on the three main markets found on Apprentice betting sites:

  1. The winner: The first and most common bet to make is on the overall winner of the series.
  2. The next candidate to be fired: This is trickier to predict, but keep an eye out for each candidate’s strengths and weaknesses and you’ll be able to see which tasks might suit them, and which might be their undoing!
  3. The runner-up: The final programme of the series ends with two candidates, one of whom will be the winner. In the show’s entire history, there has been one tie for first place so be aware that it can happen!

Breaking Down The Apprentice 2025 Betting Odds

The Apprentice betting odds for each candidate will be released before the series starts. These will be updated throughout the weeks as the personalities, strengths, and weaknesses of each contestant are revealed. The odds will also vary as candidates leave the process, either voluntarily or because they have been fired.

How To Bet On The Apprentice Winner, First Steps

As with all novelty betting, the first step in making a bet on The Apprentice is to choose the right bookmaker.

There are lots of Apprentice betting sites to choose from, so it’s important to make the right decision for your individual wagering style. Some bookies will offer a welcome bonus, some could have better odds, and some might offer more betting markets.

Once you’ve decided on your betting site, decide what sort of wager you’d like to make. Check the odds and decide on your stake to see the potential wins and losses from our bet. Who Will Be Lord Sugar’s Next Apprentice? Fun Facts And Statistics

Apprentice winner betting is no easy task, but to help you decide who will be in the firing and hiring line, here are some fun facts about the series.

♀️ Sisters are doing it for themselves

More women than men have won the series overall. There have been ten female winners, and eight male winners (including 2017 when the prize was split between Sarah Lynn and James White). Of the 17 runner-ups, only two have been male and the rest have been female

🍰 Sugar sugar

Four of the past seven winners have had cake, dessert, or sweet businesses.

🔢 Age is just a number

The average age of Apprentice winners is 27. The youngest winners have all been aged 24. The oldest winner was 31.

🤐 Keeping secrets

Two different endings are filmed each year. The final two candidates are both proclaimed as winners before Sir Alan makes his final decision before the series airs. All of the contestants are sworn to strict secrecy and usually have to lie about their whereabouts for the duration of filming.

📸 Famous faces

Some of the most successful former contestants include:

  • Ruth Badger, the runner-up from Series Two, hosted her own TV show and is now a business owner.
  • Tom Pellereau was the winner of Series Seven. He was known as ‘Inventor Tom’ and after the show, founded a successful skincare company.
  • Tim Campbell was the winner of the first series of The Apprentice. He rejoined the show in 2022 as one of Sir Alan’s business aides.

The Apprentice Betting Tips

A lot of bettors will bet on The Apprentice winners betting market by selecting the person they like the most, but there are other ways to choose who you wager on.

Here are a few tips that could be very beneficial to your betting journey with what you should look out for if you are serious about betting on The Apprentice.

Skills In The Boardroom

Scenes in the boardroom could make or break a contestant's time on the show. If a contestant crumbles under Lord Sugar’s jibes or criticism, they could find themselves being kicked out. If someone stands up to him and does not show any weakness, then they could resonate with the audience.

Team Work

All the contestants on The Apprentice are fighting it out to become a business partner of Lord Sugar’s, but they also need to be able to work well as a team. If a contestant is selfish and awkward during the team tasks, then they will not get very far in the show.

Leadership

It is important to work well in a team, but do not be a doormat. Showing leadership skills without being arrogant will stand you in good stead.

You’re Hired! Our Verdict On The Apprentice Betting

Betting on The Apprentice, and any other reality TV shows, is a great way to add extra pizazz to your viewing experience. It always makes watching the show a little more interesting when you’re backing a specific winner, and it’s a great opportunity to engage in a little competition with pals or your partner.

If Lord Sugar’s cheesy jokes leave you cold though, we’ve got plenty of other TV betting options. Have a look at our guide to the top reality TV betting sites, including the best I'm A Celebrity betting sites , to find out more.

The Apprentice 2025

The 19th series of The Apprentice got underway on January 30 2025 with Sir Alan Sugar leading the show with Karren Brady and Tim Campbell returning as Sugar's aides.

The opening show in the series saw the wannabe business partners travel to Innsbruck, Austria with teams challenged to plan a tour. Team Forest ended up making more profit than Team Ice - although the latter did sell all their tickets but at a lower price. Team Ice came under intense scrutiny and Emma Rothwell ended up being the first person fired for failing to sell enough orders as well as failing to defend herself in the boardroom.

The series continued for a number of weeks with thought-provoking tasks along with some firings. The final week saw Pizza company owner Anisa Khan going up against Air Conditioning company owner Dean Franklin to see who would be The Apprentice 2025 winner.

Both contestants faced a number of business tasks as well as enduring a tough interview. Both Dean and Anisa pitched ideas to improve their existing business, and in the end Lord Sugar chose Dean as his business partner and the winner of The Apprentice 2025.
