Fact checked by: Jordan Noble

Ever played Nifty Fifty at Betfred? If not, believe me – it’s a hoot. This popular lotto draw offers up potential prizes worth up to £5 million from a £1 play. But how does it work?

Well, Nifty Fifty is a six-ball draw that takes place five times a day. To get involved, you’ll need to locate the Nifty Fifty offer on the brand’s Promotions page and get your head around a few slightly tricky rules first. But once you’re in, believe me – it’s terrific fun. Ready? Good. Let’s go.

What is Betfred’s Nifty Fifty promotion?

“Nifty Fifty” is the name Betfred recently picked out for one of their hottest lotto promotions. It’s a six-ball draw with a £5 million jackpot for matching all six balls, and a “Consolation Prize” of £10,000 if you match five. As with any other lottery-style draw, the prizes are shared between all players with six, or five ball matches.

Here’s a few fun facts about the offer:

What is it?A six-ball lotto draw that takes place five times daily.
How many balls are in play?50 – hence the name.
How many balls are drawn?Six main balls and one bonus ball.
What can you bet on?You can place a bet on any single number being drawn, up to a maximum of six numbers.
What are the odds? They range from 7/1 on matching one number, to 5,000,000/1 on matching all six.

How do you enter Nifty Fifty with Betfred?

Sinking your teeth into the next Nifty Fifty draw is remarkably straightforward. Here’s what you need to do to get involved ahead of the next big reveal:

  1. Visit Betfred’s website.
  2. Click through to the “Promotions” page.
  3. Select the ad for the “Nifty Fifty” promo.
  4. Click “Claim Here” to activate the offer.
  5. Choose between the six-ball draw or the seven-ball draw – the main difference being that the latter has a bonus ball and slightly different odds, as we’ll soon see…
  6. Pick your numbers and place your bets. Individual number bets must be at least £0.05 each and your total stake must be at least £0.50 or more. The maximum stake allowed on any combination of six numbers is £1.
  7. Wait for the draw to start, then check the results.
  8. Any prizes you win are credited to your Betfred account within 30 days of the draw.

What time does Nifty Fifty at Betfred take place?

The Nifty Fifty draw takes place five times daily, as I said earlier. Every day besides Christmas, you can expect Nifty Fifty results at Betfred to be revealed at the following times, GMT:

  • 11:30
  • 14:30
  • 17:30
  • 18:30
  • 19:30

There are no draws on Christmas Day, and there’s a small chance the offer will be temporarily removed on other major UK holidays, too - so do keep an eye-out.

What odds can you expect with Nifty Fifty at Betfred?

As I mentioned previously, the odds vary according to whether you go for the six-ball, or the seven-ball draw. And of course, it also depends on what kinds of bets you place and how many numbers you’re ultimately hoping to match. However, at the time of writing, the Betfred website states the latest Nifty Fifty odds are as follows:

Numbers you’ll need to matchSix-ball draw oddsSeven-ball draw odds
1 number7/16/1
2 numbers70/150/1
3 numbers800/1500/1
4 numbers10,000/15,500/1
5 numbers200,000/160,000/1
6 numbers5,000,000/1150,000/1

If you place bets on all six numbers in the six-ball draw, you could potentially land a “Consolation Prize” of £10,000 on top of the odds advertised if five balls are matched in the draw.

This forms part of a special offer called “Fred’s 5 Million”, which you’ll see advertised on the Nifty Fifty page next time you play. Pretty nifty, eh?

Where can you find Betfred Nifty Fifty results?

If you need the Nifty Fifty results from Betfred today, there are two ways you can go about getting your hands on them.

The first is of course to wait for the next big draw, and see the results unveiled in real-time on Betfred’s site. And the second? Simply visit the Betfred “Lottery” page, followed by “Results” and – ta-dah – there they are. You can toggle results by date and time if you need slightly more… historic numbers..

Playing Nifty Fifty at Betfred – a few things to think about…

It’ll probably come as no surprise to hear that terms and conditions apply here. As we’ve seen, Nifty Fifty is incredibly easy to enter. That said, I’d strongly advise making sure you’re aware of the following before playing at  the next big draw:

Certain rules apply to staking.

As I said before, minimum individual bets must total £0.50 while there’s a maximum bet limit of £1 on any combination of six numbers. I also found that if you're going for a Lucky 63 or Heinz bet, the maximum stake permitted is £63 or £57, respectively. This all applies to the six ball draw.

Bets need to be placed carefully to take full advantage.

If your intention is to drop a £1 bet on all six numbers in the six-ball draw, it’s absolutely vital you select the “Nifty Fifty – Fred’s 5 Million” tile when placing your bets. Fail to do this, and you won’t qualify for the “Consolation Prize” of £10,000 that Betfred offers-up in cases where any five out of six numbers are matched - the part of the offer I keep rabbiting on about guys.

Draws might sometimes be postponed.

Betfred of course reserves the right to postpone or delay any draws – and this does sadly happen from time to time. But don’t fret. If a draw is delayed and you’ve already placed your bets, your bets will simply roll over to the next draw.

Bet confirmations mean everything.

Unless you’ve received a “Bet Confirmation” notification in your account, your Nifty Fifty bets won’t be deemed valid. So, I’d recommend getting in touch with customer support ASAP if you don’t get the pop-up right after you place your bet. The Nifty Fifty results at Betfred are revealed pretty quickly, so do keep a close on those confirmations. Better safe than sorry, right?

You can’t combine Nifty Fifty with other betting events or promos.

I’m gonna take a wild guess that you probably saw this one coming, but yeah… this promotion stands alone. You can’t factor-in Nifty Fifty bets as part of any separate accumulators, either.

Are there any other promotions like the Betfred Nifty Fifty currently available?

I’m a big fan of bonus-happy bookies, and Betfred certainly ranks as one of these. The brand runs all kinds of different special offers on their “Promotions” page, though some of course offer more mileage than others. A few of my favourite promos at the time of writing, include:

Best odds guaranteed

Betfred’s best odds guaranteed promotion is a horse racing perk related to the betting odds for a specific race. But be cautious, not all races have this feature applied and also BOG (as it’s usually referred to) doesn’t kick in until after 08.00 GMT on the day of the race. However, if you succeed in securing a bet with BOG applied, should the odds shorten, you will still get the price listed at the time you placed your bet. Better still, if they lengthen, you’ll get the bigger price should your selection happen to win.

Betfred welcome bonus

Betfred’s welcome offer is equally inconsistent – simply because the brand shakes up its terms every month or so. At the time of writing, the latest sports bonus is worth up to £30 in free bets when you drop a qualifying bet of £10. However, if you like the occasional spin of the reels, then you might want to take a peek at my Betfred casino review where I explore the most current casino welcome offer up for grabs.

Extra place races

Into each way betting? Good, because you might be able to find some Betfred extra places races today which present the perfect opportunity for placing each way bets. Extra places are applied to specific races only and by their very nature, they come and go within 24 hours, so it’s a matter of checking which races Betfred specifies on the day you want to place your bets.

Conclusion – Betfred’s Nifty Fifty promotion is crazy-good – if you play it right

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Nifty Fifty is a hoot. This increasingly popular lotto promo offers a huge potential jackpot, runs five times daily and is incredibly easy to enter, but of course, you’re going to want to know how the draw works inside and out before you go ahead and start betting.

Why? Well, the odds are a little confusing, and the T&Cs – even more so. To recap, you’ll need to ensure you definitely select the “Fred’s 5 Million” tile when betting, ensure your bets are in-line with the brand’s upper and lower limits and be 100% sure your selections have been confirmed via notification before the draw time. Remember all this though, and you’ll have an absolute killer time.
