Exchange betting has grown massively since Betfair was founded in 2000, and it’s no surprise that accompanying technology has emerged alongside it. This BetAngel review’s going to look at one example of some exchange trading software..
After giving it a try ourselves, we’re actually pretty impressed with how BetAngel handles, how much it has to offer and also its value for money. Curious to see how we came to our conclusions? Here’s everything you need to know…
BetAngel was created at a time when most people were still using exchanges much like a traditional bookmaker where you had your bet and then waited to see whether it won or lost. Then Peter Webb came along and unleashed BetAngel, adding a whole new dimension to exchange betting.
BetAngel is a piece of software that helps you take a much more professional approach to your betting at both Betfair and Betdaq. It does this by allowing bets to be placed more quickly with one click betting, and by that we mean not just a single bet but a whole strategy with one click. It also allows you to enter and exit a trade in a more punter friendly way than Betfair will.
Perhaps the most powerful function is that it allows you to automate your trading so that bets are placed the instant your predetermined conditions are met.
BetAngel is a bit like one of those huge Swiss army knives that has so many tools it won’t actually fit in your pocket. Even the most serious of traders and writers of betting system reviews are likely to have not used every single feature BetAngel has to offer.
For football, the BetAngel coupon feature lets you quickly build lists of matches that you want to bet on. When you first install BetAngel, coupon lists will already be available as an example but it is a simple job to use the BetAngel coupon editor and customise your selections.
One of the biggest attractions with this software is the automated trading that is available. Betting bots are available to purchase on their own, but BetAngel has this included as just one of its many features and the rules can be as simple or advanced as you like. If you’re a scalper, being able to get in and out of the market quickly is essential - and what could be more helpful than having a bot place your bets the instant conditions are right?
For those of you who take a stats based approach to your betting, Excel integration is available. Just set up your spreadsheet with whatever stats you use, arm the automation with your triggers and BetAngel will do the rest. It takes a little bit of setting up but once you’re familiar with BetAngel, coupon after coupon can be traded on the football with minimal effort.
Soccer Mystic and Tennis Trader are two profiling tools that help you to predict what the exchange price will be in certain “what if” scenarios - perfect for something like a lay the draw strategy where you’d like to know how the price will change once a goal goes in.
If you are someone who likes to use the cash out option on Betfair then the BetAngel greening up feature will be perfect for you. Ever had a bet on the exchange, seen the price move a tick in your favour and been given the option to cash out for a grand profit of £0.00? That’s because Betfair will just do whatever gets the bet matched even if it’s not optimal for the customer. BetAngel will always cash out in the most profitable way possible though so you actually get your deserved reward for picking a winner.
When deciding whether to use a service like BetAngel or redeem an Oddsmonkey promo code, cost is obviously going to be a big influence. This is a subscription service rather than a one off purchase but the good news is that the ongoing BetAngel cost is very reasonable and there are options for all types of user.
For the professional version a one month subscription is £29.99, but if you take out the annual subscription of £149.99 to BetAngel, the cost per month comes down to just £12.50. If you only occasionally dabble in the exchanges you can buy a 24 hour licence for 99p making BetAngel a cost efficient option for the part time trader, as you can buy as many of these as you like.
There is also a stripped down version called BetAngel Trader. This still has one click betting, cash out feature and dutching tools but predictably lacks some of the advanced features of the full version of BetAngel. The cost is therefore a lot less and comes in at £6 for a single month or £60 for a full year.
Finally there is a BetAngel Basic version which is free but is significantly different to the professional edition.
The good news is that there is a 14 day free trial to the full version so you can get to grips with BetAngel cost free until you have to make a decision about your subscription or decide to look at our Profit Accumulator review for a different option.
One of the best things about BetAngel is the wealth of support that comes with it. The website’s forum is very active and you will find plenty of helpful advice from both fellow traders and moderators. Sometimes people will even post their rules for an automated betting system, and reviews from experienced traders will help you to put them to good use.
There is also the BetAngel blog and the academy where you can take courses on topics such as scalping or tennis trading. There is a charge for some of them but a decent number of the courses are free on BetAngel, reviews of which are very positive from previous customers.
Finally there’s the Youtube channel - BetAngel’s creator Peter Webb is genuinely one of the nicest guys in the business and he has been posting videos on Youtube for over 12 years. Just search for BetAngel TV and you will find over 800 posts covering topics such as trading strategy ideas and software instructional videos. This is also where BetAngel reviews new features being added to its software so it’s well worth checking out.
If we could pick one fault with BetAngel it would be that it’s not especially intuitive if you haven’t ever used trading software before. On BetAngel the price of an outcome is displayed vertically on a ladder system rather than horizontally as seen on the actual exchanges. This is something you will soon get used to and many people end up preferring this style. But there is also a lot of other information on the screen and it can be a bit daunting initially.
The automation can be a little frustrating when you try to set it up for the first time, but it does all work as it is supposed to - it’s just a case of spending enough time familiarising yourself with it. If you seek out the opinions of experienced uses of BetAngel, reviews are overwhelmingly positive so the key is to not give up too soon. Make sure you use all the resources we mentioned and if you still don’t quite get it after reading the manual, don’t be afraid to ask questions on the forum. It will all be worth it in the end.
You can of course place bets without using BetAngel or a sure bets finder but this state of the art software is developed with a view to giving you every opportunity in what can be a very competitive environment. It’s developed by people who understand things such as arbing software are regularly trading the exchanges themselves and new ideas from users are welcomed.
For some people the main advantage will be the fact that you can set up a strategy in advance then just set it in motion once you are ready. You can save as many different strategies as you like, and even have multiple strategies running at the same time on the same market. That’s a huge time saving compared to trying to do all that without software.
For others the benefit will be in having something that connects to the Betfair API - remember the BetAngel coupon editor will bring up loads of different markets that you can watch throughout the day.
And of course this package can pay for itself when you compare the improved returns using BetAngel’s green up feature instead of Betfair’s own cash out button. It might not be worth the subscription cost if you just like to bet the occasional fiver on a Saturday, but for a large number of people BetAngel can save time and money.
For all BetAngel’s great features, it’s still worth just dipping your toe in at first if you are starting out with trading software. Whilst the automation is reliable, it’s easy to overlook a check box somewhere that you were supposed to fill in so be careful what you ask for as you might just get it. Even some of the automated processes given out for free on the forum by moderators have been known to need a little tweak before they work as desired.
Fortunately there is a practice mode on the professional version that allows you to experiment and learn how the different functions work without risk. If you value your money you’ll be someone who takes time to learn the various automated options on BetAngel, reviews how successful your strategy has been and only then puts real cash on the line. If you're looking for something a little less risky, you can check out the SportingBet welcome bonus.
So what is the verdict from us at betting.co.uk about BetAngel? Reviews are always helpful to give you an insight before you try something out and this review is firmly in favour of giving BetAngel a try. Whether you’re a seasoned bettor who wants to scalp the crossover points on every handicap race or just someone who wants a better deal every time they hit the cash out button, this software will help you.
The pricing is very reasonable and it’s worth noting that subscriptions don’t auto renew - the owners are confident that their product will continue to sell itself on merit once you’ve tried it. If you keep your eyes peeled you might even be able to make it cheaper still if you can track down a BetAngel discount code or a BetAngel coupon (as in a money off voucher, not to be confused with a BetAngel coupon within the software.) This software gives you everything you need to take your exchange betting to the next level so what are you waiting for? Why not go and see what it can do for your betting?
Traditional bookmakers struggle to match the betting odds on offer at Betfair exchange, but you’ll still need to have a decent idea of what you’re doing to make a profit. The BetAngel Academy is a great place to start learning how to trade the exchanges such as Betfair and Betdaq.
BetAngel was released in 2004 and since then it has been used by many professional exchange bettors. As approved API vendors, BetAngel has facilitated billions of pounds worth of liquidity being put into the exchange markets. They also have a number of safe deposit methods for you to pay for your subscription with.
Betting exchanges are different to traditional bookmakers, as users of the exchange bet against one another rather than against the house. The exchange makes its money by charging a small percentage on winning bets. Betfair is the biggest betting exchange and large sums of money often change hands both pre-match and during in-play betting.
