The Emirates hosts arguably the biggest game of the season so far, as third place Arsenal host table-toppers Liverpool. Mikel Arteta will feel this game is a must win, with his Gunners side sat five points behind the Reds. A win for Jürgen Klopp's side could put them out of sight, making it a two horse race with Manchester City. However, with Arsenal having only won one of the last 10 Premier League head-to-heads, Arsenal need to buck a painful trend to continue their title aspirations.
Back-t0-back league defeats to London duo West Ham and Fulham looked to de-rail Arsenal's season, allowing Liverpool and Manchester City to leapfrog them.
This was however, followed by a 5-0 win over Crystal Palace and a 2-1 victory at Nottingham Forest, results that have put them within touching distance of the leaders again.
If the Gunners are to win their fourth Premier League title and their first for twenty years, their home form will be imperative, with them picking up 26 points from 11 games - the third best record in the league. The formidable centre back Partnership of William Saliba and Gabriel have been important to Arsenal's home record, only conceding 10 times in front of their own fans.
Their resolute defence will need to be on fine form, as they welcome a potent Liverpool attack to North London.
Liverpool have been in inspired form this season, losing just one of their 22 league games. The Reds currently sit five points clear of Manchester City, although the Citizens do have a game in hand.
Buoyed by the news that legendary manager Jürgen Klopp is departing at the end of the season, Liverpool put in a scintillating display on Wednesday, defeating Chelsea 4-1 at Anfield.
Despite being renowned for their tremendous home form, Liverpool's away form has also been impressive, picking up 22 points from 11 on the road.
The absence of talisman Mo Salah has not hit Liverpool as hard as we all thought, with Liverpool scoring four goals in both league games so far. The deadly quartet of Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Diego Jota and Luis Diaz have more than carried the burden in the Egyptian's absence, and it is these four that will have to be on their game if Liverpool are to escape the Emirates with a result.
As alluded to in the intro, Arsenal have won just one of the last ten league meetings. Liverpool have already won at the Emirates this season, emerging 0-2 victors in the FA Cup third round in January. The league fixture in December ended 1-1 in perhaps controversial circumstances.
Historically, in 241 meetings, Liverpool have come out on top in 95. Arsenal have won 82 and there has been 64 draws. The last season where Liverpool failed to beat Arsenal in the league was the 2016-2017 season where the two sides drew both games (0-0 and 3-3)
Meetings between the sides over the past few years have been notoriously low scoring, tetchy affairs with the last seven matches seeing an average of 5.14 cards and 2.42 goals - with over 2.5 goals landing just twice in this time-frame.
Having looked at the previous head-to-head and each teams respective record this season, the value lies with backing Liverpool in the handicap market.
Liverpool have been the best team in the league this season and have found strength in times of adversity. With Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson suffering injuries, Joe Gomez and Connor Bradley have stepped up to the plate superbly, slotting in seamlessly at full back. Jarrell Quansah has also flourished at centre-back, while the chaotic Darwin Nunez has looked lively.
Klopp is blessed with real talent and depth, due to his trust in the youth this season. He has an array of talent to call on from the bench and I feel this will be the difference between the two sides on Sunday.
