Arsenal and Newcastle go head to head in the Premier League at the Emirates on Saturday evening with both teams looking to climb the table. Both sides come into this fixture in decent form and will be hoping to build on that.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side currently find themselves in the midst of a five game winning run in England’s top flight and in that time period, have scored 21 and conceded just two.
The current run of form the Gunners are on means that they are firmly back in the title race alongside Manchester City and Liverpool.
On Saturday evening, they play host to Newcastle at the Emirates, a place that has been somewhat of a fortress for the Gunners, with the North London side losing just once on home soil in the Premier League this season.
It has been a season of ups and downs so far for Newcastle United as they have performed below their preseason expectations, sitting eighth in the table.
Manager Eddie Howe will, however, find comfort in the fact that his side are on a current run of five games unbeaten in all competitions. Despite having a poor overall away record in the league, the Magpies have won each of their last four games on the road in all competitions, with the first of those being a 3-0 triumph in the Tyne-Wear derby.
These two sides have had plenty of meetings in recent years, 27 in the last 14 years to be exact, and many of those fixtures have been very memorable. Across those 14 years though, Arsenal have shown complete dominance whenever these sides meet, with the Gunners winning a whopping 20 out of those 27 fixtures.
The last five games between these two have produced a mixed bag of results, with either side winning two and the other game being a draw. Notably, back in 2022, Newcastle’s 2-0 win over the Gunners is what proved to be the result that would stop them from achieving their dream of Champions League.
With Arsenal being at home and also being on a terrific run of form in the Premier League, all signs point towards the Gunners taking home three points. History between the two sides favours heavily the way of the side from North London and Mikel Arteta will take confidence from that heading into Saturday’s fixture.
Having looked at statistical information, as well as things like form and history between the two sides, the most likely outcome for this game is an Arsenal victory.
As mentioned previously, the tip for this game is that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side will triumph and earn a valuable three points. The current Premier League form of the Gunners is too hard to ignore, particularly at home at the Emirates where they have lost just once all season.
Additionally, Newcastle’s poor away record in the Premier league does not put them in good stead ahead of Saturday Evening’s fixture. As has been mentioned previously, in recent years when these sides have met, Arsenal have been the side to win the majority of the games and that will give them confidence.
Arsenal -1.5 handicap presents value -a bet that has landed in the last three Premier League matches for the Gunners.
