The Premier League continues this weekend, with two teams from North London on opposite ends of the form table. For today’s betting tip, we’ll be focusing on the important clash between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal were disappointing to start the season but they have turned their form around since the international break concluded. The North London side has won two straight against Burnley and Norwich to sit 13th after three straight defeats to begin the campaign. Despite their wins, they’re yet to find their true goalscoring form, scoring two goals in five matches.
To align with their good form, Arsenal have managed to keep a low injury list. Kieran Tierney struggled with cramps during the Norwich game but he should be available when they welcome Spurs this weekend. Granit Xhaka is scheduled to return from his three-game suspension this weekend.
Unlike Arsenal, Tottenham made an impressive start to the Premier League campaign. They won three games in a row to start the season and sat top before the international break. However, since the break, Spurs were well-beaten by Crystal Palace and Chelsea to make it two defeats in a row for the North London side.
Tottenham may welcome back Steven Bergwijn to help bolster their attack for the visit to the Emirates this weekend. The Dutch forward limped off in a Europa Conference League match and he could make his return to the squad. Similarly, Lucas Moura is suffering from an ankle problem and he has a 50% chance to feature.
These two sides have a historic rivalry and they haven’t disappointed in their past meetings. Both sides usually face off and guarantee goals and this is highlighted by Arsenal failing to keep a clean sheet against Tottenham on the last nine occasions. However, the two sides are goal-shy this year with only five goals between them through five matchdays.
In more recent years, Tottenham Hotspur has had the better of their North London counterparts after being historically the inferior side. It will be Nuno Espirito Santo’s first time managing a North London derby and he will be looking to continue Spurs’ recent joy against Arsenal - one defeat in the last six meetings.
These two teams feel evenly matched entering this Sunday’s fixture. Tottenham has struggled recently and Harry Kane is yet to start firing since his transfer debacle over the summer. As for Arsenal, they have shown the good and the bad through five matchdays. Both sides should score in this game. It is also a North London derby so cards should be aplenty.
We’re predicting Both Teams to Score and Over Four Cards with Bet365 at 2/1.
